Bog cotton is pretty.

Not that you’d need to, there are plenty of sheep around.

Why is it bog cotton anyway, why not bog wool? We’ve had wool here for a lot longer than we’ve had cotton.

What did they call it before they called it bog cotton? Is this one of those ones like peacock butterflies that’s now going to faintly bug me whenever I think about it?

It’s moderately amusing that a glitch in the BBC’s weather app told people that the temperature would be around 7C today, but it’s bloody hilarious that people believed it and got their winter clothes out when they got dressed this morning, rather than, say, paying attention to whether or not they felt cold rather than a bit chilly.

@thatguyoverthere @fossheim Rust can be very variable. It might just be scorched, but better safe than sorry.

@fossheim Is it a rhododendron? Looks like rust, I’d remove the affected leaves (don’t compost them) and keep an eye on it. At this time of year, a feed wouldn’t be a bad idea.

@thatguyoverthere The annoying thing is that I have started to see small birds in the garden, they just haven’t learnt what the feeder is for.

Maybe when I have my shed and can fix it to that, a bit higher up, they’ll be happier with it.
