Last theme park I went to as Dolly Wood last year. Hadn't been since I was a kid. They have a lot more roller coasters now; really good ones. I think I went to Disney Land when I was really young but I don't remember it..never been to World

djsumdog (djsumdog@djsumdog.com)'s status on Monday, 17-Apr-2023 06:16:07 JST djsumdog The thing you have to remember about all these stories of “I threw out a hard drive with a BTC wallet key worth £1.5 million” is that the reason the coin is worth so much is because of all those coins lost or people spending 10 BTC on a pizza (which was a good deal back then when they were all worth like 30 cents).
If it wasn’t for all of that and BTC was in greater supply, it wouldn’t be worth anywhere as much.
When a ship filled with gold sinks, someone one day might be able to salvage it. If you lose access to you BTC, you’re never recovering it until some huge breakthrough in mathematics (at which time, all BTC will essentially become worthless)

djsumdog (djsumdog@djsumdog.com)'s status on Sunday, 16-Apr-2023 12:18:54 JST djsumdog the non-violent drug users thing kinda seems to be a myth. There classically were a lot of drug users (pre Soros era) but the drug crimes were normally attached on to assault and rape to add a few more months or years.
There were some people who were railroaded and labeled, but the more I look at it ... the DAs in the 2010s who said most people couldn't be rehabilitated ... I think some of that is right.
Today we're going hardcore into the political prisoner era. Really fucking dangerous people face zero consequences in some areas ... it's going to revert to "tough on crime" era policies which the crazies will call "racist."
Meanwhile right-leaning people who have done barely anything are going to prison because all the rules have flipped to Mao-era struggle sessions in our courtrooms. People (me included) use to bitch about America's high incarceration rate ... but we're also the 3rd most populous country .. and I bet China and North Korea under-report (a buddy of mine who is a federal defense attorney told me I would never make it through jury selection). -
djsumdog (djsumdog@djsumdog.com)'s status on Sunday, 16-Apr-2023 12:18:52 JST djsumdog yea ... there's true to a lot of that. Private prisons are certainly a problem. And there are very few attempts to really get people back on their feet.
At the same time, even when there are programs, only a small percentage really take advantage and make it out. Maybe if criminal records went away after years, but in America, freedoms around speech and information mean you can't stop private background agencies from collecting and publishing that info.. (and I think that's a good thing despite the tradeoffs)
It's a whole mess. Yes we can do more to get people on their feet ... but I think there's also a mythos of that's all people need ... when in reality most people will just offend again (and not just because they're labeled that way by criminal records)
.. honestly preventing crime has to happen with 5 and 7 year olds. By the time they're teenagers or adults, it's really too late -
