@djsumdog @obihahn @tj @VeddyBadAng there's more than one, i believe. There's also Club 33, which is a bit more expensive:

@djsumdog @jeremiah @obihahn @tj I went to Disney world as a young teen with my family - it was pretty lame, because I was looking for roller coasters. Discovering Cedar Point in my 20s was a game-changer 👍🏻
So true about the fanboy theme stuff - we have 50-something-year-old friends (no kids) who do all of the Star Wars stuff at Disney, even the crazy-expensive immersive hotel experience. They are basically kids themselves.
@jeremiah @obihahn For die-hard Disney fans, they will pay any price to go there. The people it will deter are the casual fans who might have gone once or twice just to give their kids that experience.
We go to visit near Orlando 2-3 times a year and have NEVER taken our kids (& thankfully they are too old to want to go now). The main deterrent for us was the price - even before the increase in recent years. And now it’ll go up even more? Pffft!
@VeddyBadAng @jeremiah @obihahn
We did a trip with Disney World and Universal Studios when my son was young, and we liked Universal better. There was more stuff to do, and the stuff was better and more varied. Disney World felt like a giant food court with a few rides.
@tj @VeddyBadAng @obihahn i liked Futureworld, EPCOT and the 20,000 leagues ship when I was a kid. When I was last there, it had notably declined: severely unimpressive.
For someone who wants "rides", Six Flags or similar blow their doors off.
For people who want their immersive branded experience, it's irreplaceable.
Disney seems focused on theme experiences for adult children (Star Wars crap, for example) which makes it less family and more fanboy over time.
Not that I am going back to Disney anytime soon, but this is going to jack up the costs to get into all of their theme parks as they’ll be subject to all the rules and regs. of the other businesses. They (Disney) will have to cut costs to make up for it if they want to keep their ticket prices competitive. As it is, Disney is no longer a financially, family friendly experience. You need to save for years to afford a vacation there if you don’t want to charge it all.
@obihahn keep their ticket prices competitive with whom? Even if they raised the entry cost by $20 per ticket, would that really convince most people to go to Seaworld instead?
@jeremiah I guess I don’t really know since I’ve never been to any of the other theme parks in Orlando (Universal, Legoland) and I haven’t been to Sea World/Busch Gardens for about 20 years, but I do remember their ticket prices being cheaper🤷🏻♂️
@obihahn the tickets to the county fair are also cheaper than Disney.
"Hon, let's go to Florida and save money by going to the cheapest theme park in Orlando" said no one ever. 🤨
