     If you want to see a tiny microcosm of how the navy’s doing, just read through their on-the-ground reporting. Ignore the carriers, the SSBN’s are supposed to be the best the navy has…..and they have contractors trying to hammer shit into position while they head out on a no-notice deployment.

     There’s no hidden well of competence that arises in a fight. This body won’t turn it around on a dime and suddenly be well rested, enthused, and intelligent just because they’re taking fire. It’s gonna be an overworked cadre of understaffed competent people beset by half a dozen worthless taskable monkeys hired for diversity’s sake.

There was a sweet spot for a while, where people wouldn’t put in incompetent diversity hires into a position that could harm. Those days are done, now you can’t even count on incompetents being weeded out if it endangers a diversity metric.

     For all their myriad faults and retardations, the chinks are ruthlessly realistic in ways we are not, and I guarantee you some washington ass hungry for a major victory in the SCC at the hands of a diverse, all-female staff at the helm will end up installing the most incompetent staff you’ve ever seen.

     The chinks are dumb, but unlike us, I think they have a better shot at learning from their mistakes. We’re rot all the way through, more tumor than muscle. They’re just anemic.

     Funny enough one of the issues they have w/ the “SUPER” hornet was the fact that it uses alloys inside to make up for the huge weight increase…..and they’re corroding in unforeseen ways, supposedly. They aren’t open about exactly how or why, so who knows which ones are giving them issues, but the impression I get is that it’s stuff deep in the plane’s guts that’s weakening sooner than expected

     mentioning CIWS as anything other than useless in this scenario tells me this guy is not in fact a good "redneck engineer". at mach 5 the missile will go through the entire engagement envelope of a Phalanx in 1 second. the Phalanx's best bet of hitting a missile would be firing before the missile entered its range and hoping some of the already-in-flight rounds would intercept the missile's path. that would not work most of the time, and when it did, perhaps 2 rounds at most would hit the missile

Political considerations will always outweigh military ones, because they haven't had to fight a war where national survival (and thus their lives) were at stake since 1814. As long as a military bureaucrat isn't personally held responsible for failure, and they never are, they don't care how bad it goes for the nation.
     
     I could call out dozens of examples, but here's a recent one: The one marine officer who called out Biden's Afghan pullout disaster got thrown in jail, while the morons who got people killed are still employed or even promoted.

Even IF a Phalanx system is lucky enough to hit one of these missiles, has it's trajectory been significantly altered? I’m sure there’s a lot to that, probably a good amount of garbage ammo they’re trying to burn up, but still. I don’t think the combo of few turrets+ female loading crew is one that should inspire confidence

     Note the date here: 2011. Sure, theoretically we’ll be able to buy the same faggy loading systems the euros have, but I doubt we have many up yet

     @1967GTO @IsraelDelendaEst @deprecated_ii I have a weird relationship with all this tech. To an extent, I hold a reverence for the original, the stuff made my white engineers with slide rules, the stuff designed to slaughter jewish commissars and their slave legions.

     So much of what we have takes that as a base and turns it into an unholy abomination of homosexuality, jamming electronics in every crevice possible, adding complexity wherever it can possibly fit, reducing its fitness and readiness in every way possible.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot cwis will stop a supersonic missile lmao. also lol @ his "math". did this guy forget cruise missiles and torpedoes exist? also I think the df-21 is kind of old, I imagine the PLA would use the new hypersonic df-17 or the much larger df-41. so his "physics" isn't all that relevant either

     @sky999999 Seems like both sides do this. they lionize their fave and wave away all prospective problems instead of realistically assessing strengths and weaknesses.

     I wouldn’t bet on the chinks having a huge success rate with their missiles, IDK about their QC though and I’d be judging them on likely incorrect metrics from other, less important military projects. People think they make shoddy stuff all around, but the chinks are more about hitting a price point than just making shit. If you crack the whip and leave as little wiggle room as possible, you can get damn precise work on par with the krauts - just ask the jewlers buying fake Breitling chronos for €13,000
