And this is why things like cisco routers and switches don't have power buttons; they turn on as soon as you plug them in. Maybe a good idea for the server people to consider?

This should concern everyone, because everyone who is paid a wage or salary has their income based on what the minimum wages are. If the day laborer's wage increases, everyone else will push for a wage increase.

And those whose wealth is not based on either wages or salary fight that because every penny paid to a worker is one they can't stick in their own pocket.

Well, an initial investigation makes me think that it appeared in Pokemon in about 2008. The Arpeggio of Blue Steel manga volume it appeared on the cover of was in 2009. So, it isn't that old.

Which makes me think meme or maybe an inside joke.
