Vanilla Mastodon doesn't let you create embedded links, but it will display them correctly if other types of server allow them.

It depends on how you're looking at Mastodon.

On the latest version of the website interface, there's an option below the poll called "Show results" which you can click.

I don't think the official app supports this yet, and I'm not sure if any third party ones do either.

Only workaround I can suggest is opening the poll on the web instead of an app, and clicking "show results" there.

I can't find anything about this on Mastodon github, are you comfortable starting a new issue there?

If you're posting a link on Mastodon, you'll probably want to add https:// to the beginning so it is clickable.

For example fedi.tips isn't clickable but https://fedi.tips is clickable.

The reason https://is required is in case people want to include dots in words or phrases without accidentally creating links.

p.s. Techy people might like to know that many non-web link types also work on here: https://, http://, gemini://, dat://, dweb://, gopher://, ipfs:// ssb://

Yes, use the "private mentions" visibility mode:

Bear in mind that any accounts you mention in that mode can see the message, so only mention accounts you want to communicate with.

Mute conversation in Mastodon does exactly this, it's just not specific to sub-branches of the conversation.

There's no direct way to do this at the moment, but one (sort of) workaround is to bookmark the thread and then check it again later.
