By the way, when you mute a person, you can choose to do it temporarily, in the section marked "Duration" before you confirm the mute.

If you're tagged in a conversation you don't want to take part in, you can mute the conversation's notifications:

1. Go to one of your posts in the thread you want to mute
2. Click ⋯ and select Mute conversation
3. If you haven’t posted in the thread, go to a post in the thread where you were tagged, then select ⋯ and Mute conversation
4. If you still can’t find this option, go to your Notifications section, then click ⋯ and Mute conversation on one of the conversation’s posts there

Yes, but the same is true of any server on any internet serivice.

I am not a lawyer, but in most countries I think the responsibility for that is with the person who owns/maintains the server.

If you upload material that breaks your server's rules, the admin may delete the post and/or suspend or remove your account.

Hmm... I'm guessing it is some kind of bug, possibly counting each image separately as you suggest.

Yeah, Mastodon isn't primarily designed for this.

Long media is better suited to media-based Fediverse platforms like @peertube and @funkwhale which both have podcast features.

People on Mastodon can follow accounts on PeerTube and channels on Funkwhale, they'll see the media appear in their Mastodon feed.

Yeah, the website interface does this too, it will automatically play separately while you browse other posts (but you can switch it off if you prefer).
