Weird... sorry to hear that. Sounds like there's a bug in the release version of the software then...

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 22:30:46 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ Umm... I'm not skilled enough with server admin stuff, my own servers (at growyourown.services etc) run through managed hosting.
However, the server this account is on (mstdn.social) did switch from Mastodon to Glitch Mastodon and back to Mastodon seamlessly, so it's possible to do for Mastodon forks at least. @stux might be able to help?

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 22:09:33 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ If you go to your profile page, they will be in the bottom right corner of the page, where trending tags normally are.

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 22:08:45 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ They are not very prominent any more, unfortunately.
There was briefly an *excellent* interface where the featured hashtags were custom filters at the top of your profile timeline, so people could click on them to just see your posts that matched that tag. It was intuitive and really useful.
Unfortunately the Mastodon developers decided to abandon that and instead put the featured tags at the lower right side of the screen, where they just get confused with the trending tags.

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 21:56:59 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ The problem is it's the other way round this time, people are seeing multicolumn by default even when they've set it to single column.
I just had a message saying multicolumn by default would put people off using Mastodon, and they're right.

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 21:54:03 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ Ahhh the list of tags rather than a "list" from the Lists feature?
Gotcha.
So, people would have to check their list of followed tags before the initiate the transfer?

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 21:48:38 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ The developers sometimes use mastodon.social to test out experimental code, guess this might be new code that broke something?

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 21:44:05 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ Thanks for the headsup, I'll edit the article now!
"the list does not seem to be accessible on the previous instance after account migration."
Do you mean when you logged in on the old account, the list wasn't working properly?
That's possibly because you can only list people you follow, and if you've transferred your follows that would affect what appears on your lists?

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 21:41:01 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ People on mastodon.social, are you seeing the multicolumn ("advanced") interface by default, even if you didn't activate it?
Have had a couple of reports now of this happening, has mastodon.social made it the default by accident?
It used to be the default years ago, but since then the simpler single column interface was made the default. Multicolumn shouldn't be appearing by default.

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 21:38:28 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ The simpler interface is the default, it has been for years.
Are you seeing the advanced interface by default? That shouldn't be happening if that's the case.
Someone else on mastodon.social mentioned something similar, I assume there is a bug on mastodon.social?
Hey @Mastodon @Gargron have you switched on advanced by default on mastodon.social?

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 21:36:09 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ I'm not sure there's a way to block boosts of replies specifically. I assume you mean the Home timeline?
You can hide boosts, and you can hide replies, but as far as I know you can't narrow this down to just boosts of replies.
On your server's website, you can hide boosts or replies by clicking the slider icon in the top right corner of the Home timeline. You will still get notifications of replies that mention you, and you will still be able to see replies in threads.

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 13:27:49 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ Bluesky is a centralised service run by Jack Dorsey and his friends.
It has no connections to the Fediverse or anyone else, so there is no way to respond to it from elsewhere.

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 13:20:51 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ I think that would be beyond my remit, as those would apply to anyone running an online community with any kind of software? I'm trying to focus on the Fediverse specifically.
I volunteer in various orgs but I don't have experience running a co-op, so I'm not sure I'd be right person for writing about this.

Fedi.Tips ๐ (feditips@mstdn.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Nov-2023 11:37:03 JST Fedi.Tips ๐ There is no more risk from those apps than there would be from the official app. The official app doesn't have any kind of special status or special abilities.
The apps I listed, and the official app too, are free open source software, so people can inspect exactly how it works. If there was something suspect going on, it would be obvious to the outside world.
