@nixCraft . that's the positive interpretation, it could also be argued they missed they boat and are becoming nothing more then a producer of excellent but boring hardware, the latest iphone was a disappointment according to most commentators. The only advantage they have in my view is their enormous cash and financial position, but they have no edge in hardware, software or data when it's about AI.
@nixCraft That's terribly dangerous indeed... although we have to keep an open mind, can such a tool never play a role in therapy or support I am wondering? 🤔
@nixCraft Very true , AI can never replace human connection and that should be avoided at all costs, at the same time a personal AI tutor that can help students in the near future in addition to their human interactions with their teacher could be a gamechanger, see it like an interactive version of all useful YouTube videos about math subjects for example
@nixCraft ..but good to remember it won't help against scrapers, crawlers who just ignore robots.txt , i don't think a chinese crawler bot will care for example.
@bear@aral ...but isn't the practical solution moving to another server that doesn't federate with threads, that's the nice part of the fediverse, you can make choices?
@Edent ...great idea which has been discussed before, you can imagine that a government provides every citizen with a digital presence, just like they provide them with a digital identity. It never happend until now however.
@nixCraft .. it's already in use with many people, if you understand it's limitations and know what you are doing, these are good tools that can increase productivity. People also copied from stack overflow without knowing what they were doing.
@Wolven i agree with your call to action. However will not every commercial other platform use their data for training AI models i am wondering. Also are data analytics "OK" then ?
For those of you who are interested in statistics, this is a five-sigma event. So it's five standard deviations beyond the mean. Which means that if nothing had changed, we'd expect to see a winter like this about once every 7.5 million years."It's gobsmacking."
@aral@felipebaez ....actually proud of our court system in het Netherlands, it's independent and works, ofcourse the important thing is actual change in behaviour, i am optimistic, this ruling gets a lot of attention also with the police.
