Folks, there are multiple reports about Fediverse data being used by AI companies like OpenAI. This puts vulnerable people at risk apart from everyone else. They build profiles about you, which can be used to deny you certain services because governments or influential people are now in charge. Server admins must block all AI bots and data center ranges to protect users. I’m not sure making your account private is safe or not. Please be safe, these are dangers times for privacy and safety.

There's no way they are going to be able to block scrapers. -
Erik Jonker (erikjonker@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 09-Jan-2025 00:03:31 JST Erik Jonker @nixCraft ...server Admins can't stop all AI bots, it's a simple as that, information on the fediverse is public and can be re-used by both humans and machines, for me that's part of this platform. I want my posts to be public and available to everyone and everything, if not, then i don't post on Mastodon. Ofcourse admins can make massive datacollection harder or more expensive for other parties but that is the most they can do.
