I love the way bogus.org is still the Bogus linux distribution (first with an actual package manager) even though it's not been updated since 1994 and the site hasn't changed since 2003 except to add https:// support

@nixCraft Why would the EU look at this ? They agreed browser choice with the EU in 2010, got fined for not doing stuff they promised in 2013, and have been rolling out full browser choice to EU citizens again after the EU passed the Digital Markets act (as have Apple despite all the games around web stores still going on).

In Europe it's been fairly repeatedly done and dusted (although Edge on ChromeOS would be an epic troll by Microsoft if they wanted to have some fun)

@nixCraft They don't need copyright holders authorisation merely read works. Be very glad about that, big content tried to get us a world where there were no search engines would have been impossible, your internet was taken away for merely looking at a pirate work by accident, and AI screen reading aids would have had to individually license everything they might read to a disabled person. What they do after having read it is more of an issue.

(if it's got the rubbery wheels on the paper feed on that one you may find it's the rubber not the motor that wants replacing. Both are very fixable and it's a better printer than most of todays - refurbishedland sell kits)

@nixCraft Neighbour bought an HP printer, fortunately she couldn't get it working so asked for help and I was in time to get her to send it back and buy a Brother. That not only works out of the box it will take other ink if needed.

HP of old is long gone. Even a decade ago I had some PA-RISC hardware to return and I asked HP and nobody in HP even knew what PA-RISC was let alone how to return them, so I stuck em in a box and parcelforced them to a random HP office

People are surprised when they find out I am anti-vax, but I'm sorry the Sun3 was just a better machine.

@nixCraft Like the Intel CPU stuff - we used to use Wikipedia to look up our own processor info when I was there, was easier than trying to find it on the official site
