@mntmn Agreed - waste of resources and efforts. People who won't ever use it will still need to cover the added cost. Plus most people already have surveillance devices with mics, cameras and plenty of other sensors.
@mntmn Laptops don't need mics or cameras because people already have phones for those, headsets and webcams can easily be plugged in if needed and it needlessly drives the price up for those who don't use them most of the time or ever.
@mntmn Perhaps this project can fulfill this need: #Stract is an #opensource search engine where the user has the ability to see exactly what is going on and customize almost everything about their search results. It's a search engine made for hackers and tinkerers just like ourselves...
@itsfoss No, not voluntarily. Can't think of any reason except to: - save my life or someone else's - help out someone who isn't ready to migrate yet So definitely not for myself unless I absolutelt have to then in a VM.
@nixCraft Although I use @mozilla Firefox, I would argue that @brave out of the box has better privacy defaults and the scammy crypto features are not enabled by default.
I would love to be shown another cross platform browser (besides Tor) that has better privacy defaults than #Brave. This is because we often need to recommend software to our normie friends who will be deterred from migratung if they are required to tweak settings, install addons, etc.
@itsfoss Yes but non techy users would never need to see the terminal if they don't want to... especially as everything they need is available with a GUI. We have our community school running Linux in the computer lab and students couldn't care less about the OS as long as the apps are there.
@nixCraft This move doesn't make complete sense. I like Firefox but it doesn't even block ads out of the box unlike Librewolf and @brave and I'm not seeing any noticeable slowdown or delay on @brave... Is it because I'm logged in? #YouTube#YT#ads
@itsfoss Do another one and then see the answers. What distro would you pick for installing on 30 kids' PCs for which you had to provide free support for?
