     @nixCraft I feel like laptops are too much of a commodity item now for brands to matter as much as they used to. I do like my ASUS ROG laptop and my work MacBook. I also liked a work ThinkPad 2 in 1 I used to have :)

     @nixCraft i’m pretty happy with my Lenovo, I never even let it boot into windows 11. As soon as I hit the power button, I went straight to the bios and installed Linux Mint 🤣

     @nixCraft happy with my 6 yr old Asus Q406. When M$ started running advertisements on my OS, I blew Windows off of it and loaded Ubuntu. Tired old battery, but the computer is excellent.

     @nixCraft Lenovo but specifically the Legion gaming brand. For IT work it has every port under the sun without needing a dongle.

     The extra thickness didn't bother me at all. Decent self repairability and self upgrades.

     .... And since I was working in video games at the time I did not mind having a dedicated GPU onboard as well.

     @nixCraft I've had good experiences with Acer and Asus, and terrible experiences with many Toshibas. That said, if I had the money I would try out the Tuxedos and System76's of the world.

     @nixCraft framework. It is a device that you actually own and can repair. Switched about a year ago (from a Dell xps) and I never want to go back. Especially since the Dell xps series now use this impossible webcam solution from Intel.

     @nixCraft Honestly Framework laptops are the best IMO. I like it when companies make a product that last and make you actually own it.

     @nixCraft M1/M2MacBook (macOS and Fedora) or ThinkPad (Fedora). MacBook because of the screen, battery and performance, ThinkPad (used) because of price, quality and Linux compatibility.
