@nixCraft I know better not to do that line of code, but I can imagine some poor newbie right now wondering why things have done so wrong for them. 🤣
I honestly cannot imagine someone trusting a bot designed for ordinary chit chat (conversations) to think it would be suitable for code
But then I see titles like this and think, wow
For fun, just to see the outcome, I asked ChatGTP how I could best clean my Linux install. Something a Windows user would ask (but for Linux)
ChatGTP told me to run: sudo rm -r -f /
🤯🤣 (Please no one do that)
If you trust ChatGTP to administer your computer or code anything, I feel sorry for you
@itsfoss I have always preferred KDE, but there is 1 feature Gnome has that I think KDE should adopt. I like it so much, I think LXQT and Cinnamon should adopt it too.
When your system needs you to impute your sudo (administrative) password, Gnome greys out everything and that password box is front and center. You have no choice except to enter the password or hit cancel.
Recently, I experienced a moment with another distro and GUI that caused the password box to hide behind windows. Not Gnome
@itsfoss or you can use "Firefox Automatic Install for Linux" and choose between 32-bit and 64-bit, while also choosing if you want a system install or a personal install for yourself. —All while obtaining pure, stock experience directly from Mozilla, unmodified by anyone, while also getting automatic updates.

@nixCraft There is (was) an old post board, where Linus Torvalds announced his new operating system. At the time, there was a young child, using a family member's computer, who didn't know what he was talking about and, with poor typing kills, attempted to tell him that his OS was a failure and would never go anywhere.
I have never been so wrong.
@itsfoss meanwhile, SUSE Enterprise will soon be 30 years old.
@arstechnica I'm happy we're going back to the moon, but the spacecraft seems like a step backward. -- I mean, if it works, great. That's the important part.
But I would have thought in over 50+ years, the next trip to the moon would appear more futuristic.
@arstechnica They honestly shouldn't be in business.
If a business is a "for profit" business and is making poor choices, including booking, and losing money, in a so-called capitalist economy, they should go under (go out of business).
Instead they keep getting bailed out. 🙄
At least this time they're not entirely getting away with everything and are being asked to pay fines. But often those so-called fines, they have already factored in as the cost of doing business. 🙄
@itsfoss Good.
I don't support Red Hat and have not done so for a long time.
Red Hat screwed me over, and now they've decided to close their source code.
Alma Linux can go in another direction, and I'll be happy to keep using them. And if they somehow become unusable for whatever reason, I'll just further double-down with both Debian and Ubuntu.
@nixCraft I voted Android, because:
1) Out of the box, without playing with any settings or filters, it will produce a better image.
2) Apple offers a better visual screen, so the photos on the iPhone look better, but once you move those photos to a desktop or another non-iPhone device, you see the difference.
@nixCraft How long have I used Linux?
Arguably, since the beginning.
How long as a dedicated daily driver?
If we're counting dual-booting, then around the time of Windows ME.
If we're talking about when I wipe all drives and left Windows in the dust, then around Windows 8.
@itsfoss It's a classic and perhaps old school, but I still prefer "Squirrel Mail"
@nixCraft Brother Laser printers for the win.
I also know how to fix those old ribbon tape printers that no one (see, most people) uses anymore.
As for cats... The last cat I owned was good enough to leave mine alone.
My birds, on the other hand... Flatbed printers are better if you have birds. You don't want the bird dander (dust) to get into an ink jet.
That said, it's generally best not to use ink jets.
@nixCraft python the new "DLL hell" dependency type.
