@Fash-E @Twoinchdestroya @Bead @WashedOutGundamPilot This is the original Mars Lego set, "Life on Mars"
-
@Twoinchdestroya @Bead @Fash-E @WashedOutGundamPilot I came across a few sets that might be the one you are describing.
First is Galaxy Squad. Check out these and see if any match before I link any more sets.
-
@Fash-E @Twoinchdestroya @Bead @WashedOutGundamPilot It had a camera I think.
-
@Bead @Fash-E @Twoinchdestroya @WashedOutGundamPilot Of course, nothing could top the best lego game/set of all time.
-
@Fash-E @Twoinchdestroya @Bead @WashedOutGundamPilot That's after my time.
The LEGO (and off-brand like K'nex) I remember are from around '97-'02 or so.
The only set I can't remember is there was a cheaper version of the Mindstorms. It was a programmable robot, but not as complex as the Mindstorms.
-
@Fash-E @Twoinchdestroya @Bead @WashedOutGundamPilot Vision Command is the camera, I had that one too.

@Fash-E @Twoinchdestroya @Bead @WashedOutGundamPilot Found it.
It was the Star Wars Droid Developer kit version of Mindstorms.
-
@Bead @Fash-E @Twoinchdestroya @WashedOutGundamPilot You ever play this game? The dark areas scared me as a kid because you had limited battery to use night vision.
-
@Bead @Fash-E @Twoinchdestroya @WashedOutGundamPilot Ooooh what about these...
-
@Bead @Fash-E @Twoinchdestroya @WashedOutGundamPilot Y'all remember these bad boys?
-
@Bead @Fash-E @Twoinchdestroya @WashedOutGundamPilot I REMEMBER THE BORAK

@WashedOutGundamPilot @doctorsex @mkultra It is a ridiculous 80's property that fits in nicely with other ridiculous 80's properties like Judge Dread, Rambo, the Schwarzenegger Conan movies, Mad Max, etc.
It works as long as it stays true to it's 80's feel and nostalgia. However, like many aging properties (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and so on) when they try to make a modern version it falls flat.
Most of these IP's should have gradually faded away in favor of new versions that fit the current zeitgeist. But in the age of massive corporations milking every property dry and jews snuffing out any truly original new ideas, nothing of the sort has come about so now we have 80-year-old Harrison Ford creaking about in whatever abortion the newest Indian Jones movie is called.

@WashedOutGundamPilot @doctorsex @mkultra Dawn of War was a cool game when it first came out for the quality of the voice overs, the detailed animations of recruiting units (dropping from orbit, summoned from hell, etc), and the novelty of the setting.
The wiki is enjoyable to peruse for the kind of obscure backstory you only get from a 30+ year old franchise.
I still like the setting personally, but mostly the older stuff in terms of the setting and in real life.
The recent LOTR series was garbage, for instance, but the original films and novel are still good regardless.
