You go to compile a CLI chat utility.

It sucks down 600 dependencies, eats gigabytes of RAM while compiling, and pegs your CPUs.

Done compiling; you run it, it's perfect, does everything you need.

Memory footprint: 86 MiB.

Not certain, I just saw some videos saying that the batteries would bleed empty over several days in power-off state because the management processor was still running in an idle state (waiting for the keypresses to turn everything on, obviously).

Love it! Any work on the management processor slow battery bleed issue? I doubt I'll be able to afford one this go-around, but if I did I was thinking of jury-rigging a pretty crude-and-crazy shielded toggle switch for power cutoff, or maybe find some way to have something like a hidden switch that can be engaged with a pin to cut off power.

LOVE the design, and that trackball is GLORIOUS. I don't even like trackballs on my PCs, but it's so much better than a trackpad XD

Sweetness! What's the firmware and blob situation looking like on the rockchip? I know the PinebookPro doesn't really have a usable webcam because of drivers (not that I mind, ha)

That makes sense, I submitted an issue to a project because they were using a fairly not-well-thought-out custom license. They listened and changed it to MIT, iirc.

But that was my reasoning: you're hurting adoption by not using a recognizable license.

What about a non-commercial-above-100-employees license? ;)

I remember hearing rms say that he paid the rent for several years by selling tapes of EMACS to people by mail.

With all FOSS projects being online, that's no longer a possibility.

I know it wouldn't be truly Free, but I'm wondering if something like CC BY-NC would be beneficial, or if people just need to be better at marketing themselves.
