He could also just . . . PUSH THE DAMN MUTE BUTTON.
But that's apparently too hard.

In one of the more unique categories of films, I'll enter "My Favorite Wife" with Cary Grant and Randolph Scott in the "Awkward use of a Slide Whistle in a Classic Movie" category along with "D.O.A."

Remakes made more sense back in the day, before home videos and broadcasting old movies on TV was a thing. Most audiences either didn't have access to the original or never saw it or probably didn't remember it that well.
Now-a-days it's just the acme of laziness.
@restful
I think a big part of the prejudice against old movies is first an inability to appreciate the black & white aesthetic and second a problem with modern attention spans. Modern movies since at least the 80s have focused more on spectacle and emotion and "the experience" and less on actual narrative and complex characters. I started my own kids on silent movies (Chaplin, Keaton, Lloyd) and lots of classic 30s/40s cinema. They've grown up enjoying the old movies as much as the new ones.
That's definitely part of it. I often think a lot of the Oscar bait movies are similar to action movies, only instead of watching the spectacle of CGI explosions one watches the spectacle of an actor emoting all over the place. It's rooted in "feeling" and not reason - it's why I can't stand a lot of modern stagings of Shakespeare where the actors drown the lines out by emoting all over them.
My favorite staging of "Taming of the Shrew" set it in 1950s America, with Petruchio being a Texas oil tycoon. Hearing Shakespeare with a Texan drawl was somehow perfect.
I'm not sure how folks live in the West Coast insanity.

Did he kill Eeyore? Because I could kind of see why he would wind up killing Eeyore.

"Is there something in the guitar case?"
"Yeah . . . . . . my guitar."
That's actually one of the few Kubrick movies I haven't seen yet. That and Eyes Wide Shut, which I have no plans to watch.
I did see the real life umbrella gun in the Spy Museum in DC. Oswald Cobblepot not available for comment.
Is this legit? It looks fake to my skeptical eyes. But it could just be video compression. The part that gets me is the rebound of the red part (from a non red car) hitting the dude at the same speed it flew off the car. No way a good portion of the energy wouldn't have been absorbed into whatever object the part rebound off of (meaning it should be moving significantly slower on the rebound).

So . . . .folks getting upset about teachers reading books to little kids about sucking dick and drag queens teaching them to gyrate is all just made up and doesn't exist?
Yeah. Sure. Okay.
@shieldholder
You're presenting a false equivalency that borders on being flat out deceptive. Saying "occasionally they have a point, but mostly it's retards overreacting" certainly makes it look like you're saying most of the "conservative" objections to the child groomers is exaggeration. Disney has bearded dudes in dresses at Disney World. They've got a dude dressed as Minnie Mouse selling clothes to kids. California wants to take kids from parents who don't agree to genital mutilation.
@ryan
I think social media is intrinsically disordered and dehumanizing. This one Mastodon account is my only exposure to it. I don't Twit/X or Facebag or Instagram or any of that nonsense.
That being said, paying some attention to national trends to see what kind of tidal wave is coming over the horizon isn't a bad idea. Most of the nonsense isn't here in my rural town, but I'd be a fool to think it's not on its way.
I didn't say you approved. I said you were making a statement that downplayed that such things are happening.
They are, in fact, happening.
@Vox
Yes, but the reason they feel dehumanized is that they've already identified their entire being with the genitals they don't have. The same goes for most LGBTQ+ folks - they defined their entire being and self worth based on where a penis is or is not stuck. And the same goes for any hetero-sex addicts.
Life and relationships have a lot more to them then genitalia. Are we surprised that folks who think otherwise display signs of severe mental illness?
Nah, let's double-down instead.
@Arthur_500
Most folks, even the NRA, get this wrong. People think the 2nd Amendment prevents states from passing gun regulation laws . . . which is completely wrong. Even though I support people owning guns, the reality is the Bill of Rights was written to restrict the Federal Gov't. Not the states.
Roe vs. Wade was, as originally decided by the Supreme Court, one of the most unconstitutional rulings in the history of the US Government, which is saying a lot. Using it as a baseline by which to gauge other laws and norms is not useful.
Within the original context of the Founding Fathers, the Bill of Rights was most definitely designed to specifically restrict the Federal Government with regard to State Rights.
WHAT?!
Geez, I love mushrooms.
