    @feld @Johncdvorak it's not atypical to burn fuel. I think generally it would be preferred they burn the fuel over dumping it as long as they weren't dealing with a failing engine or something more major. Who knows though

    @adam @eriner @chanon @BlueDouche @Johncdvorak a fediverse server is managed as a single unit not the greater fedi though so it is kind of a special place (within a specialer place). Moon can't approve registration on nas and you guys are free to set up whatever server blocks you like or boot the infidels if you choose. Nas is like your house but if you live in a crazy ass neighborhood, especially with registration closed.

    @eriner how can it "hurt" the show? If anything Adam bitching about memes has almost become a staple. It seems very strange to go to such an extreme as to exit the fediverse entirely. It looks to me like an attempt to avoid potential cancel culture claims down the road or something which is kind of a bitch move.

    The inside of oak whiskey barrels is charred for 2 reasons. One is that the charring and heat applied to the oak brings out flavor notes in the liquor, but the other seems to be just a result of the old manufacturing process (coopering) where they would start and put the barrel around it while assembling which I assume was to create a steam bending conducive environment. Pretty neat happy accident that the way the barrel is made basically invented certain flavors of booze.

    It seems like the main distinguishing characteristics between the various spirits (liquor) are the result of the process more than the ingredients. Like using a pot still vs a reflux still or aging in (or with) oak. The specific ingredients of the mash do impart some flavor if using the right process but most of what is associated with the taste comes after and for some things it seems just putting a burnt stick of wood in for a few weeks is enough to drastically alter the flavor and appearance.

    This is where the lamp sits on my bookcase. You can already see a difference between it and the space around it in just a few months. I wonder if moving the lamp around so it isn't always covering the same spot will help or if I'm destined to having a lighter spot in the surface because of the lamp.
