@udongle@handsomewinner@blueknightfrank The same applies to manga, light novels, etc. They hold contests each year to find good ones and give them rewards for winning. Of course that can result in derivative slop (if that's what people and the judges want) but it can also result in great new stuff. Magazines that show a variety of stuff to people all at once, at an affordable price.
@Death_Dealer@Zerglingman@GrungeQueef I don't subscribe to the "cute aggression" thinking as much. I think it has more to do with emotional and social maturity. The same is in play in essence with the "brony" phenomenon. People who wish to openly express their emotions, but either lack or deliberately ignore the social boundaries that others set up.
I would say it's more emotionally immature to reject somebody because of this iconography alone. Either they cannot comprehend it, or respect the social boundaries too much to want them to change
@GrungeQueef An anime avatar can mean many things, such as desire for idealism, lack of association with the physical body, anonymity, less desire for personal attention, etc. This also applies to vtubers in comparison to IRL streamers.
@rainignterror1080p@ChristiJunior@RealRaul@RehnSturm256@rlier23 Pokemon is its own company, not exactly Nintendo. Although Nintendo has been getting infected too, like most Japanese companies unfortunately. Eventually the only way we will be able to enjoy ourselves is by creating our own stuff
@AmericanChampion@WashedOutGundamPilot@Osmium You probably don't know how many Japanese people have sibling fetishes and are very close to their actual siblings. Just look at any number of the clips here
@Vidmastereon@mona@ChristiJunior@coolboymew Pokemon Gen 1 was very innovative, especially in regards to player trading and battling. Eventually they moved away from the exploration and social elements and just focused on the surface level elements. I suggest watching the GCCX interview with Tajiri
