@foone Does 32-bit DOS with a DPMI use segments and overlays? It feels like it would be overkill since the whole idea was to get a 32-bit flat address space, unless you start doing weird stuff like unreal mode. :thaenkin:
@arstechnica "The cable group argued that data-capped plans are a way for providers to distinguish their offerings from those of their competitors, which is beneficial for consumers."
You don't have competitors! You have regional monopolies! Who are your competitors?! DSL?! Satellite?!?!?! Maybe FTTH in wealthy areas? Geez!
@foone Pretty sure it was that one, maybe. By Arstech.
Looks like it wasn't a serial, just a download link I didn't have... I found the downloads (including special DOSBox) in a Vogons thread after looking again... Software last updated in 2013. 😌
@foone I have a USB-ISA bridge around somewhere that can theoretically do that (but it needs proprietary drivers for an obsolete kernel that are download restricted by a serial number I don't have)... Let's build a whole old PC out of USB! Like one of those flight simulator cockpits!
@foone I love looking at my digital camera photos from the late 90s (my grandpa had a Canon FinePix, I think? It uploaded via RS-232), I try to remember if everything was really just blurrier back then.
Are they pseudo selfies because you're not using a selfie stick? Sparkling autoimages?
@foone So it won't turn on... Tried new batteries and all... The screen can turn on if the lenscap is open but it's just blue... I took it apart a little... caps look good... No idea.
But the next step up is only $25 on ebay! It says it's working and it still seems to use the serial port (most important part), so let's waste some money! 😌
@foone I feel like this might be a power issue. If it happens more often when a power-sucking component is present, and less often but still happens when that component is removed, then power is a likely suspect. And power supplies are frequent culprits (my biased opinion). And good ones can just go bad.
My Dolch is having a similar issue when the screen is attached.
@nixCraft I showed my mom Pirates of Silicon Valley and she got it. It helps that the previous weekend, we'd watched the Netflix documentary on the Branch Davidians and David Koresh. I guess we should be thankful Apple had computers and not guns.
@codimp@foone I think that's a reference to Peter Norton, which is kinda silly in this context... altho he's famous for the pink shirt, he's also shown up in white and blue.
I'm interested in things (computers, mostly. Old computers, handheld computers, personal computers, minicomputers, etc). Sometimes I also like manga, Pokemon, Vocaloid, LEGO, 3D printing, or other things.I like programming as a hobby. Mainly in C and Python but I try to branch out sometimes if appropriate. I also like sensors and automation. Check my media tab for more!I am 30 or 40 years old. 🦝If this factory ever produces a shell that can actually be fired, I'll be very unhappy.
