    People under about 45 were told there was this grand bargain that if they worked hard and studied that they would never be reduced to "flipping burgers". Said bargain was made when those jobs were supposed to be the last refuge of adults who couldn't do better, or for teenagers just entering the workforce. Decades of globalization and financial shenanigans have voided that bargain, and now those same people who said "work hard and study" want you to flip burgers. The middle class lifestyles that the people making those bargains got to enjoy are no longer a thing, and they lack the wherewithal to realize or understand this.

    I don't know about you guys, but I'm done making these bargains.

    One of my prior employers nearly had my facilities' power cut due to non payment. This occurred because no one bothered to tell the power company that the company HQ moved, nor did anyone bother to set up a forwarding address to the new HQ, and the power company didn't bother trying a method other than mail to reach their client (they want to sell power, after all), and didn't bother sending mail to the facility itself (where I had been working for months by that time).

    It was a vortex of stupid all around, and I firmly believe that the NY government would have done something like this, because I've seen similar.

    @Hoss @WashedOutGundamPilot It's redline speed was always Mach 2.83. Panicking and exceeding that tends to end badly, though the pilot that did this over the Sinai did at least make it back to base.

    It's role was to be the end point of a long chain of ground and air based assets that lead to an interception. The way we did it and the way they did it were very different. A MiG-25 pilot's job was to follow ground controlled intercept commands to a point, burn through jamming with a ridiculously overpowered radar, and shoot incoming B-58s and B-70s with missiles as big around as telephone poles. Enemy fighters were not it's concern. And it did this while being made of welded steel.

    @WashedOutGundamPilot People criticize the F-35 program, and rightfully so, for being among the worst of Pentagon bullshit. The F-22 program I'd argue was just as poorly managed, and led to a capability gap so wide that the USAF is now buying new build F-15s to attempt to fill that gap.

    I have no doubt that if America lasts long enough for it's "New Century Series" to take flight that it will be just as much of an expensive boondoggle as all of their other programs.
