   One of the reasons why boomers are the way they are is because they grew up under the constant threat of nuclear annihilation. Since they thought they would all be dead tomorrow, they developed a mentality of consuming all their resources in the moment. This is why they never seemed to care about the future. They also developed a hedonistic way of thinking, as demonstrated by their attitude towards sex. After they gained power, virginity went from a holy trait to a source of mockery. Keep in mind that I'm not making excuses for their behavior. I'm just outlining the root causes.

     @okuu The Pill got invented and marketed just before most of them reached puberty, and the Sexual Revolution kicked off just as they became adults. It's like the planets aligned for them, but the planets aligning unleashed hedonism that they couldn't ultimately handle.
     
     They also grew up in a virtually intact America while much of the rest of the world was rebuilding after World War 2. The 25 years following WW2 had some of the most breathtaking advances in science.
     
     The Baby Boom Generation will never fully comprehend the absolute gifts given to them.

     @NitroDubs @okuu Plus there was the post-WWII economic boom that lasted pretty much until the 1970s. The rest of the industrialized world had been blown to shit, and America got to reap the rewards of being the last country standing
