@aijooyoom @charliebrownau @adamcr It would be nice if there were a condom (such as with invidious or nitter) for github, so that git projects which have foolishly chosen to remain on enemy infrastructure could still be safely viewed by passerbys.

I’ve held off putting my own projects on any git because protocols are infinitely superior to platforms. But Forgejo might just be exactly what I was looking for.

@charliebrownau @aijooyoom @adamcr I am also no fan of rust. Every time I’ve tried to build a project in it, cargo complains about some bullshit or another or needs a very specific version of the nightly build for an obscure feature. Also, all out-of-channel package management is just a mess IMO. No python pip. No npm. I want none of that bullshit.

Also, and I know I’m criticizing my own link here, things that make me weary of trusting tools built by Nym:

@tomat0 To be fair, the major commercial search engines themselves no longer appear to prioritize search by keyword, but rather attempt to interpret what is being asked in sentence form. i.e. catering to people who don’t necessarily understand web search at the expense of those who do. Also the amount of name collision will only ever increase as we run out of english words to associate with new projects (and products, commercially). I was trying to search the topic of phasmophobia recently only to realize that a game had apparently come out using that terminology as its own title, flooding the result of any search with SEO’d game material.
