@aral Kdenlive is great. I worked 3 years with it to make TROM II. They have improved the stability a lot for the past few years. From my experience it is the best FOSS video editor. Recommend! -

Welcome to planet Earth. A random rock in the Universe where the most "intelligent" species only cares about trade. Trade this for that. So that the members of its species spend all of their life trading. That's all it is.
It is not about creating smarter and relaxed humans, and a nice environment for everyone. Not about exploring and learning, or enjoying. It is about trading.

@aral @ttiurani Maybe you misread or misunderstood. For one we need to consume food. That can be plants or animals. Nutrients. Second, show me in what society humans can simple have a life (access to their basic needs) without trading (having a job, making a business, etc.). -

@aral To be fair, putting aside the terrible wars happening, no one can live on this planet without trading.... you can't be a good human being, do good thing, and survive. You have no access to food, water, shelter and the necessities of life... This is terrible. -

We've recently had a discussion over here social.trom.tf/display/dbc8dc4… about how Thunderbird's update is in fact not that "cool", but less functional, and how the theming and window managing is starting to become more broken on Linux because many developers seem to not think of their apps in terms of usability and respecting the user's choices and their system.
@thelinuxEXP here's why not respecting the user choices via their system (theming, fonts, window manager), is a bad idea. -

@thelinuxEXP You are not a "power user" if all you want is to select a particular theme and expect it to work with at least most of the system. Or a font size...
All "regular" users use Window Managers. XFCE has one, Gnome has another. Maybe the wording is confusing, but what I meant is the system that draws the windows graphically. And that is not respected by apps like Thunderbird.
I fail to see where's a better design and coherency, else I would applaud it too.
The fact is: if you need to customize, you still can and you know how.

I think you brush aside too quickly the trend of fragmentation in the Linux world, with Gnome caring only about Gnome, thunderbird about their app, and so forth. Destroying in the process useful features that are system wide. I do not understand how you do not see system theming as important, or font choosing, or HUD-like features. They are useful for everyone.
You know probably most users do not use Workspaces, but probably you do. How would you feel if Gnome, or app developers, would make it nearly impossible to use their apps or systems with workspaces?
Anyway, I thought you could pay a bit more attention to things like usability since from what I remember from some of your videos, you say that you work/have worked within that domain. -

@rotfarm I agree. Unfortunately there aren't many alternatives. I use Firefox for many years now, but except that, what are other options that are not Chromium dependent or dependent on Firefox who receives a lot of money from Google? -

@aral @koherecoWatchdog She is "my wife" for the past years, but we hate that ritual especially because we were forced to do it for the papers. So I call her "my girlfriend" normally. But yes, I am an EU citizen. Have Romanian citizenship and Spanish residency. The marriage was done in the EU. But it seems to make 0 difference. The lawyers told us that it does not matter, unless I can show that I can support her financially and have at least a one year contract and make over 1k a month. -

@aral @koherecoWatchdog Oh yeah we were also surprised....we thought the marriage certificate is enough. But it is not. She can "legally" stay with me in spain, but she has no documents here or the right to work. Nor can she leave spain and expect to return back. So she is trapped for now. The lawyers told us multiple times there is no way for her to get the residency just because she is married with me. I started to film for a documentary about this situation some 3 years ago but we were so tired and busy that I did not film much....I wanted to make a documentary about this bullshit situation because most people are unaware of it. -

@aral Yes it is terrible. My girlfriend (Sasha) still cannot legally stay with me in EU despite us going through the process of "marriage" some 3 years ago. We try and try to get her a residency so she can also be able to leave, go to the US visit her family and such. We cannot....we at times talk to 3-4 different lawyers. It is insane.
It is such a prison....and you realize it so much when you bang your head into these things...
Like for us, to give her a residency I have to have a job and make more than 1k a month for at least a year. Else we are not humans. -
