It's a tool. Working for Meta doesn't mean, everything you do can be smeared.

When I said "to organize", obviously I meant lists. Despite the lack of features there is still plenty that people can be made aware of.

Moreover, how many lists can you really manage and users per lists make sense? When you follow several thousands or even just over 500, it's already hard not to not miss a lot of posts.

The goal is to interact, otherwise you can just sub the RSS feed.

Actually, at this stage it's more important to inform people (how) to properly organize or even reduce their follows.

After all, you can only read so much, and the more users you follow

* the more posts you will miss out on

* the more infrequent posters will be forgotten

* the less you respond as well

It's just that I see little difference to the narrative of the free speech movement.

You're trying to solve or rather avoid a human problem with tech.

You are supposed to be beholden to the rules of the community you join, you want to establish a track record for content mods, and it is in your own interest to have third-party servers do things for you.

Anything decentralized that isn't purely p2p is essentially a federation. As such, small web is just another protocol alternative like Nostr.

Even the marketing language reminds me of crypto and vc startups.

Imho, what we need are better tools allowing the decentralized web to compete with both the established and upcoming businesses, rather than the 15th standard.

Peer-to-peer solutions are not appropriate for social media.

You will always end up building hubs where people want to gather, organize, proxy through, store data, and so on.

A federated network offers the most realistic compromise on this front with incentives for all participating actors.
