@aral always lovely to see your small web work pushing forward :blobfoxheartcute:
Your site warns the API is unstable until version 1. When are you hoping to hit that?

@aral honestly, you look really striking! Way to wear the hell out of that thing! Hope it was a fun wedding :blobfoxaww:
@fredsarm @mitexleo @help @xrobau yeah single user mastodon is not a super fun time. Many other Fediverse projects that are better aligned to that, eg #calckey
Deployment is a whole other ball of wax. Check out @aral and @laura are doing at small-tech.org 👉🏼 The Kitten web server and Domain micro-PaaS (if I may lol) aim to make it much easier to self-host single user server apps https://small-tech.org/research-and-development/
@aral I read through the #Kitten docs. You did a nice job walking through the project and it’s capabilities 👍🏻
Looks like a neat tool. #HTMX and #alpinejs are nice choices to bundle. I’d prefer #SQLite to #JSDB, but I see what you’re going for. I might try it out with #Dolt via Dolthub’s SQL API https://dolthub.com/blog/2020-08-21-dolthub-repository-apis/
Overall it feels like a static site generator, but it’s dynamic! very cool 😸
TIL about “Small Web”. Seems to rhyme with “Local First Software” and “Indie Web”.
I love this beautiful sentiment from https://ar.al/2020/08/07/what-is-the-small-web/
“And in case talk of databases sounds dry, technical, and irrelevant to you, remember that each one of those databases is an artefact of a soul’s exploration of itself and the world around them.”
💯❤️🙌🏼
Hey @aral what’s the overall status of your #SmallWeb effort? 🤔
Looking at your main site, it seems that none of the projects is out of alpha yet: https://small-tech.org/research-and-development/
I know it’s very hard to attract meaningful resources (money/dev time) to projects that are philosophically unprofitable.
I’ll need to dig into other blogs & code by you and @laura to get a more nuanced understanding of the project status.
@oborosaur fun! I have questions.
1) How close to production-ready is #fuchsia ?
2) Is Fuchsia expected to replace ChromeOS? E.g., on the @frameworkcomputer Chromebook?
3) @cwebber is building capabilities-powered enhancements to #ActivityPub at @spritelyinst Does Fuchsia’s capability-based architecture make it a uniquely good place to implement protocols like this? See https://spritelyproject.org/news/what-is-captp.html
