Yeah that’s the exact problem I’m running into. matrix.org won’t receive anything from my instance until after events from another instance step in.

Yeah nah, it was working just fine until like a week ago and @CumskinFoidPuncher69420 brought it up. I get around to looking at it now and it’s just outright refusing to federate with matrix.org for reasons unbeknownst to me.

So iddqd.chat can’t federate properly with matrix.org, and only with matrix.org. Every other instance I’ve tried works, so the issue logically wouldn’t be iddqd.chat. Yet that makes no sense because matrix.org is the canonical instance.

tldr I wrote in C when I needed to crunch numbers (running the cosine similarity function over and over in short succession) and then I also wrote in high level scripting languages like Ruby when I need to hit APIs and do string manipulation. Use the right tool for the job. Do not be a language ideologue.

But even so, the main (but not only) reason to learn C is as the lingua franca of programming, the imperative language that makes it easy to learn all other imperative languages.

I’m not so misanthropic. Hate is too strong of a word. But I do get frustrated, irritated even, sometimes. Sales is a position where you earn your keep by dealing with a lot of stress hormones. It does take a degree of real talent and grit to convince people to part with their hard-earned money for whatever bullshit you’re shilling, after all.

The only segment of modern corporate America I can say I consistently hate is HR. It’s the most Luciferian, in specifically a Mormon sense, segment out there. They’re worse than managers, who by and large just want you to serve your function so they can appease their executives.

The QC paradox is real. They don’t want to throw anything away ever, but they also don’t want anything to be flawed ever, so every attempt has to be perfect every time or bust. I saw them do this to people while I was still in logistics. I write software for a living so I wasn’t on the receiving end of that, but believe you me, they play similarly malicious games.

I do understand how people are blind to the big picture. The “big picture” is the end of the quarter, where their reports go out to the shareholders. 6mo from today doesn’t exist. That’s how. When you realize this everything makes sense.

You know they don’t have an answer to that that’s worth taking even a little bit seriously. The work is hard and the pay isn’t just shit, it’s so shit you can’t come up with rent. So why bother?
