@tangleofsnakes Does she save her own seed or buy fresh every year?
Any weird reaction to a cucurbit makes me worry about cross-pollination with a poisonous variety.

@thatguyoverthere I heard an NK expert talking about it this morning, heโs in for a hell of a time, poor idiot.
@thatguyoverthere I remember reading once that you have teams of roaming contractors that follow bad weather around because they know they can get work doing stuff like that, fixing rooves and so on.
@thatguyoverthere Considering the trouble you gave getting your bins emptied, Iโm astonished!
Curlew, and โIโll take that over the forecast thunder and hail, even if we are a bit overdressed and hotโ:
Looks like my mum is getting the storm, just missing me.
@thatguyoverthere I know you guys like to have everything bigger and more exciting than back here, but you really should rethink that!
Hopefully no serious injuries to anyone and you manage to make everything good soon.
@thatguyoverthere Shit. Sorry, love!
:(
@thatguyoverthere Good luck! Hopefully youโll get a steady soaking rather than a downpour and wind.
@thatguyoverthere Shit! Hopefully your having taken down the worst of them will mean no major damage.
@PonyPanda @thatguyoverthere @EmmaFaber NGL, I did look up one day about six months after she left and realise I was suddenly having sensible conversations with a lot of Fedibros.
In fact, I posted something along the lines of โis it just me or have they really got a lot more civilised lately?โ and got replies saying โno, you women are just less crazy latelyโโฆ.
I also mute a lot fewer threads these days.
@thatguyoverthere @PonyPanda @EmmaFaber There is the bot, if you miss her badly.
@thatguyoverthere @PonyPanda @EmmaFaber Tragic cushion cover-related accident.
(We have no idea. Afaik, no one does. Some of the missing Spinsters people are still in touch with, or like @BCLADY told us they were going, but Emma just vanished one day.)
@thatguyoverthere I almost wish I could see this guyโs posts. He sounds amusingly clueless.
@thatguyoverthere That seems more likely to me, they can be buggers for squeezing out.
@thatguyoverthere If you clip both wings, it doesnโt work! The point is to make them asymmetrical.
@HebrideanHecate @TinyHouse4Life @HaleakalaCrater @thatguyoverthere Netting, too.
I only heard of Bt recently, not sure what I think of it: https://empressofdirt.net/bt-caterpillar-control/
@thatguyoverthere Hmm, maybe in places?
This particular one I doubt, it would have just flowed into the stream if it wasnโt collected.
Back โbefore the [mains] water cameโ, this was an incredibly reliable drinking water spring. In hot summers when the wells dried up, people would bring milk churns here to fill them up.
Something must have shifted underground, though, because now the water just runs down the next road over and causes trouble in winter. And no one needs the water any more, so itโs never been fixed.
I learnt this evening that the spring was called Redway Spout.
The water came in 1984. The electricity in 1962.
