In fact, I posted something along the lines of “is it just me or have they really got a lot more civilised lately?” and got replies saying “no, you women are just less crazy lately”….

This particular one I doubt, it would have just flowed into the stream if it wasn’t collected.

Back “before the [mains] water came”, this was an incredibly reliable drinking water spring. In hot summers when the wells dried up, people would bring milk churns here to fill them up.

Something must have shifted underground, though, because now the water just runs down the next road over and causes trouble in winter. And no one needs the water any more, so it’s never been fixed.

I learnt this evening that the spring was called Redway Spout.

The water came in 1984. The electricity in 1962.
