To be fair, if they could remove political opponents from the internet they would. We all saw in 2021 how far they'd like to take things.

Regarding the original issue, I'm leaning closely to the idea that one-size-fits-all social media is itself prone to disaster. Most commentary on that incident emphasizes the lack of moderation but largely ignores the monopolization factor that clearly had a role in escalating tensions. This is a concern I've always had with big tech on it's own, it's an enforced mono-culture...and we've seen the effect it's had on people's minds.

@PurpCat@marsey.moe this is what worries me the most about the future of the open web. It won't exist if nobody wants it. The normalization of mass censorship and surveillance has eroded a lot of the foundation needed to foster it. I'm becoming increasingly skeptical that people can creatively out-engineer the apathy (or even hostility) from the public towards the very concept of a free and open web.

What's a good GUI framework in 2023?
I'm not picky about the language, but ideally it would be cross-platform and not cancer like election.
