@TheMadPirate@detroitriotcity.com I don't have an opinion on the original claim. I'm sure many people DO think the NY times is woke and communist like I'm sure many other think it's excellent and valuable. The Tux man just went full meltdown on someone saying that which seemed as I said ...disproportionate. @Zerglingman@freespeechextremist.com
@chrisisgr8@tech.lgbt if this is about a specific post or not but bigotry is not "disagreement", believing certain groups do not or should not exist is not "criticism"For sure, but I'm specifically referring to someone calling the NY Times woke and communist, regardless on where we draw the lines I didn't see the immediate response as proportional.
@torvalds@social.kernel.org I miss the days where disagreement didn't mean that someone was filth to be purged from humanity. Sure @morgthorak@poa.st could have articulated his criticisms better, but why take it so personally? Besides stating 2010s democrat positions doesn't make you woke. In fact it can make you far-right if you haven't also updated a litany of other positions.
@thatguyoverthere@shitposter.club Biggest problem is asshats leaking it. Literally all it takes is someone in your circle feeling cheeky to ruin all the effort.
We've recently had the internet archive DDOSed because some entity decided they wanted to scrape all of it in a hurry.
I think the AI goldrush means that you should assume that everything that's public has already been indexed somewhere, even if the index isn't published.
I worry that fedizens are luring themselves into a false sense of security by expecting to keep data-scrapers at bay with shame and outrage. Odds are, these entities will be less transparent and even less considerate.
@RustyCrab@clubcyberia.co You will not impose freedom on normies. They will put the shackles on you instead to share their misery. Harsh, but I see what you mean. @GrungeQueef@poa.st
Change starts at home If you’re an American, why would you support more wars? Are you reeetaaarded?
Your leaders wasted TRILLIONS of dollars on bombing ultra-poor countries for two decades, while the US grew an unsustainable debt, and now you can’t afford college education or healthcare.
Your infrastructure is crumbling, middle class is shrinking, small American towns are dying, homelessness and crime are exploding, drug addiction has turned into an epidemic, the society is deeply polarized… the depressing list goes on.
But you want to wage a war against Russia and China half way across the world. They are not Iraq — they have combined 6000+ nuclear warheads. With hypersonic missiles, they can nuke every major American city into Stone Age.
What do you get out of these wars? A fantasy of an American Empire ruling the world?
Get a clue. Oppose all wars and demand that your leaders negotiate peace. Then, fix America.
@picofarad@noagendasocial.com They'll just try again. If 2020 is hindsight we know there's enough people who are willing to give in to state run fearmongering. General purpose computing for the people must be safeguarded.
