@Jens_Rasmussen Ishiba is seen as a political outsider, more of a hawkish nationalist with unconventional views and more of a "idgaf" attitude about them. Change always spooks bankers.
Japan News Update: After a power struggle in the ruling party, Japan is set to have a new PM. Globalist puppet Fumio Kishida is out. Model-building military otaku Shigeru Ishiba is in.
Only time will tell if he's any less of a globalist puppet, but his positions re: Japan's military capability & regional independence are definitely fresh air after that limp rag Kishida.
The markets have responded locally to the news. JPY dropped against the US Dollar today, lower than its been in a while.
Still working on that Dark Mod map, but fuck me AI pathfinding is irritating. I feel like I'm running a Special Ed class. They're supposed to run away from the scary player towards the flee point, opening doors along the way. Instead they run headfirst into closed doors and just kind of grind their faces against them, fuck you.
@rlier23 Feels like a kneejerk reaction because it got so mainstream-popular so quickly. Even over here, the moat run-of-the-mill normies know about it.
@feld "Upon this realization, after I was brought back to the zoo, I stared out into the faces looking back at me not with curiosity, but with an emotion that was as new to me as it was intoxicating... Hatred."
@kakafarm On a personal level, I want to be in charge of myself and secure my own ability to speak freely, rather than depend on some company or "Trust & Safety Council" to decide for me. Self-hosting an instance is the closest I can get to achieving that.
More broadly, ActivityPub is (in my opinion) the best way to allow that principle to flourish at scale. Single-User, Small Group, and Large Flagship instances can all interoperate & help satisfy a variety of use-cases.
@Heil_Honkler Caius Cosades is a person role model, or at least he would be if he hadn't just casually stood there and watched me almost get knifed to death by a Dark Brotherhood assassin in his own living room.
In which Treshtog the Orc steals Skooma, kills a guard, becomes Public Enemy Number One in Vivec, and pays a fortune in bribes to avoid paying a bigger fortune in legal fees.
Getting Ashes 2063 to run was a bit of a challenge, turns out the GZDoom snap package is dogshit and won't run anything, but the .deb version from the GZDoom website works fine.
I wasn't sure if the Doom 2 WAD was strictly necessary to make it work, since FreeDoom should fill in the gaps, but Internet Archive had a copy of the original WAD so I got it anyway.
Upshot is, everything works now so Ashes 2063 is still on for next Saturday.
Favorite moment from tonight's stream was finding creates full of skooma, stealing them, running from a guard before killing him, and then skulking through the sewers of Vivec and running away from guards through the streets until I could find the Thieves' Guild to help bribe the authorities. The true Skooma Orc experience.
