    Binaries on Usenet are so weird now with NZB and massive binary groups with no meaningful titles. I'm not sure if there's any more meaningful/useful stuff on gemini or if it's destined to just die out.

    Just use a seedbox. Most seedbox providers give you a proxy if you really need one.

    The only "VPNs" you can trust are the ones you setup yourself, with a VM and something like Wireguard, tinyproxy, dante ... and they're still not really private; you still have to trust Vultr/Hetzner/whoever .. but using a VPN company is just asking for it because OF COURSE THEY'RE GOING TO LOG EVERYTHING .. I mean I would if I ran one!

    It's at an outlet store, so they probably screwed up some batches with the wrong inserts, so it was probably easier or cheaper just to sell them at a discount than cut open and repackage all of them.

    I've only spent a week in each. L.A. was in a weird hostel filled with wannabe movie stars and restaurant workers .. and bed bugs. New York was on a work trip for a vendor training, with a hotel room that was more than a month's pay in a week.

    It's a tough call ... but I think if I was forced to live in either, it would be .... no I can't do it. With both of them I'd make for the border and die trying to get out.

    Yea I also want to say it doesn't "hurt" to get blocked... maybe at first back in 2018 but then I learned how many coddled little whiny shitheads were out there and stopped really caring.

    It doesn't bother me that I'm blocked .. it bothered me people that most of the big instances censor and break the fediverse. People should decide on their own who they want to listen to.
