@Moon @Hyolobrika It’s understandable that they would believe that, given the context in which those authors grew up (i.e. after having like a third of them wiped out in the span of about 5 years). It’s not at all a given when thinking long-term, though. Cultures tend towards integration over time.

If we’re talking about Orthodox Jews that truly believe in their own superiority (I mean in a “divine right” sense, not just based on stats that show they do tend to be pretty successful as a group) and thus consider “whites” to be beneath them, then you can say they’re not white. But at that point it’s self-fulfilling, since your refusal to integrate is what causes the lack of integration.

@Humpleupagus @CrustyB @thatguyoverthere No, it isn’t. That pardoning power is enshrined in the constitution, but the POTUS can only pardon federal crimes. There are still state crimes on the books that many of them can get charged with, and you can bet that a sufficiently-motivated prosecutor would be digging through old laws to find something to charge them with.

And you can bet that a state prosecutor would feel that pressure, given how “federal funding” operates as a loophole to the 10th Amendment, an explicit example of which would be how states were forced to kowtow to MADD and raise their BAC limits for fear of losing funding for their roads.

I support this, of course, since ignoring the 10th Amendment is called “being a good person” and all.

@matrix It depends on the state actually. For Red/Blue police lights, even having them installed is definitely illegal, but for amber ones it depends.

@Humpleupagus This comic seems like it’s getting mad at Trump for exactly the wrong reason. What exactly was he supposed to do about this? Doing some coordinated general pardon of all those people that went into the Capitol during the 2-week interval between certifying the vote and Trump leaving office would have likely resulted in a rushed impeachment, and would have been justified TBH.

That being said, while those people are idiots for idolizing Trump to such a degree and falling for the “stolen election” BS, they never would have gone to prison if Trump and his cronies hadn’t lied to them in the first place. That is what they should be mad at Trump for.
