     Millennial mechanics worked on their own cars, had a riced out civic before entering.

     What do we have now? Kids who played mechanic simulator? It’s like that everywhere, people who may hold the same certifications as their predecessors but they lack a lot of the deep knowledge that allowed them to do the job under extreme conditions and stress.

     I, maybe because my global politics teacher thought it and she was based, think that China might just in general want to do things peacefully because it means they get to look like they were Heaven's Intended Empire or something. That their managing to take things without violence demonstrates some kind of naturalistic bias in favour of the CCP. I'm sure they *can* take things by force still. I doubt the US for example has that willingness, or infantry who are Certain that doming 45 people already in zip ties is the right thing to do.

     @SpaceElf I don’t think the chinks have the tech to achieve parity with us by any means. They aren’t inventive or innovative, and they’ve had endless problems just meeting the open standards to replicate turbines for 5th gen aircraft.

     But the chinks have a tenacity we utterly lack. They have insane levels of espionage installed throughout our society, and an actual war would open up a billion points of sabotage that would cripple the country when used correctly. Hell, they STILL hire tons of chinks to go work for GE, and they only ever catch them making off with the data stolen from the company (needed to make competitive fighters) when outside countries ask why a dude has multiple laptops and phones with 20k in cash.

     @SpaceElf I’ve long said a true battle between the US and china would be like a slapfight between retards. We’re each lacking in critical areas we don’t much admit. The chinks can’t compete in many areas, and our tech is generally pretty cool……if it works.

     I contend that just like this, there are a billion little issues and incompetencies that we fail to notice because it’s peacetime and we have room to breathe. It’s not a huge deal when the BEST plane in the F-35 wing only has a 75% mission readiness rate, or that the average is barely 47% because nobody’s dying without them in the air.

     But let the balloon go up and suddenly all that really matters. It matters when you don’t have the freedom to ship spare parts across the globe overnight, or that your shipping is forced to travel in convoys for ASW. It really matters when your maintainers can only keep 1/4 of your wing operational all the time, or that each plane suddenly has all these little niggles that prevent full functionality.

     The cartoon implying that B-2 or other stealth bomber is some super uber dooper tech that cannot be detected and intercepted and China army consist only from millions of zerg tier infantry with no AA weaponry.
     While in reality China obviously has radars to detects such threats and they also have reverse engineered Russian Grumble systems, which is one the best AA systems today.

How many will smuggle one in to be able to stay in touch? how many of them are loose lipped in the comfort of the base?
