@Elliptica @Hoss @Heil_Honkler @KillerMule @MK2boogaloo @Awoo @MCMLXVIIOTG >discards as many cards as possible from their hands
How often is that less than "all of them"?
How often is that more than "all of them"?

@Zerglingman @Awoo @MK2boogaloo @MCMLXVIIOTG @KillerMule @Heil_Honkler @Hoss Yugioh is worded so strangely. I was looking at a lot of those cards recently, and they make me feel retarded, trying to understand them.

@Elliptica @Hoss @Heil_Honkler @KillerMule @MCMLXVIIOTG @MK2boogaloo @Awoo Well yeah but like, I can actually imagine a situation offhand where you would not be able to discard a card: Pole position and any card that checks for a certain card/type of card in your discard to modify its' ATK.
The second question I can't imagine any such situation but it's YGO so I won't assume it never happens.

@Zerglingman @Awoo @MK2boogaloo @MCMLXVIIOTG @KillerMule @Heil_Honkler @Hoss This is a good example. Everything sounds like an option. You can choose to look at their hand, if you do you can choose to destroy monster with a certain attack value, your opponent can choose to destroy strong monsters in his deck.
It makes me assume that Yugioh would be very popular with lawyers. The wording is oddly precise yet also convoluted.

Well... It doesn't actually word it as an option, but a condition? So if the peeking at hand step doesn't happen for any reason, the card doesn't attempt to destroy anything in their hand, which is reasonable.

@Zerglingman @Awoo @MK2boogaloo @MCMLXVIIOTG @KillerMule @Heil_Honkler @Hoss I guess the way I would have worded it is "you can look at the hand" followed by "must". You must destroy monsters in their hand, you must up to three monsters in their deck. The use of conditions passed the first act seems strange.

@Elliptica @Hoss @Heil_Honkler @KillerMule @MCMLXVIIOTG @MK2boogaloo @Awoo I think "then" is good enough. As I said, the idea is that if any particular step gets blocked it doesn't attempt to continue, eg. so the opponent can't thin their deck without losing what's in their hand, so "you may look at their hand, then destroy all monsters in it, then that player destroys up to 3 monsters in their deck".
