     @Heil_Honkler @Bad_Banner Radar and GPS apparently don't work that far down (2.5 miles). Power also might have gone out so communication would not work regardless.
     
     Ballast is supposed to automatically drop after a time as a failsafe so the sub would surface on its own eventually, unless it was stuck on something.
     
     Most likely there was a leak/puncture that instantly crumpled the sub or power went out and they are stuck on the bottom.

     @hogankhan @Bad_Banner Well an emergency beacon should be a self contained unit that sends out an SOS sonar signal at regular intervals. Radar and GPS shouldn't have much to do with it. If they had one that is. It being a sudden implosion due to structural failure could certainly be a cause but in that case if they had said beacon it should have activated.

     @Bad_Banner Imagine not having those emergency space blankets as part of the emergency kit. They are actually quite effective at reflecting body heat. A four pack costs 7 bucks. I'm going to laugh if they freeze to death.
