Isn't one of the key motivations to do freesw to provide software that proveably does not discriminate against it's users? One could argue that more representative diversity helps to bring in more perspectives. However i'm not buying that the perspective on software of a LGBTQ person is fundamentally different from the perspective of a straight person.

     The free software foundation should be about free and open source software and maintaining/improving it for all.

     Worldview, sexual orientation, race, gender and anything idpol related shouldn’t have anything to do with it at all… it’s a fucking software foundation

     Twitter open sourced their algorithm and they discovered it had backdoors for the feds or some shit. The FSF made a similar case after the diesel emission scandals, that open source code anyone could audit would have led people to catch the fraud.

     Only diverse type of minds brings that and you can't have that if one hunts anyone who isn't from the same mold, that behavior is the one of the reasons why there's less and less different ideas, and because of that either people go away or just have enough with their own life has it already happened in the past.

     @drewdevault Meanwhile I strongly feel like the FSF is almost done for, I've seen way too many of it's members or members of sister organisations choosing ideology when it comes to technical issues (linux-libre leader about spectre/meltdown comes as a striking example there) and still wanting hard-purity that no one actually achieves over practical solutions that benefits everyone, like Framasoft seems to be really good at.
     A split could maybe happen though but I have no idea if it could happen cleanly.

     They're also probably the only organization to mention the Daily Stormer issue and literally said as well, "they will use the same tactics on more websites next". Which was probably one of the better ways that shitshow was handled by any group, because Infowars and Tucker Carlson were silent on this.

     It occurs to me that it's entirely possible that up to 100% of the faceless handles that write (and have historically written) amazing software belong to people in disadvantaged groups. Maybe the meritocracy culture allowed these people to shine with nothing more than a nickname.

     We'll never know. It's impossible to measure. Maybe that was a good thing.

     The pages and pages of dense philosophical essays and poorly organized FAQs do not provide a useful entry point or reference for the community.I agree, as much as I truly love the classic essays and FAQs these things can be done in a much more modern way. I think especially on the audiovisual front the FSF is quite lacking in that regard. Shortform video rains supreme nowadays.
     
     I like that they've made attempts with the "Fight for Repair" and "Rewind" animated videos, but honestly I find them rather cringe by making them action oriented.
     
     I think the very professional looking videos produced by the FSFE, such as "Public Money, Public Code" and "What is Free Software?" are much better promotion material. Both the FSF and FSFE should make more videos like these.

     There are an insane number of LGBTMafia people in open source. Who cares? No one should. It shouldn't even matter one way or the other. It doesn't make software better or worse. It just turns into in the type of political warzone you love to add toxicity too.
     
     Opalgate is a great example. A T contributor comes in out of no where and goes apeshit on a project he's never contributed to except for a CoC.
