I had a nightmare that someone invaded my home and robbed me, and none of my rifles had ammunition. And for some reason, I guess I wasn’t wearing my pistol.

I awoke thinking “OH MY GOD I’M BRITISH”

To pinch myself, I promptly went outside and yelled “fuck the king!”, “fuck the courts of injustice”, “nigger!”, press-checked my pistol, and now I’m about to enjoy bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Close call, but I’m still American.

@dcc no, you don't understand. It literally doesn't pass POST (power on self test). Doesn't even make it to BIOS.

@dcc it's not mastodon that's crashing, it's the hypervisor host machine. I've tried rolling back kernel, looking at logs (kernel and userspace) to see what's happening, but it's something hardware related. The machine fails to post 11/12 times on boot now.

In an effort to appease the ghosts in the shell, I have ordered parts for 2 new boxes.

The intermittent downtime and inability to POST will continue until morale improves.

@Invictus close your eyes, bow your heads, and pray to Whyunoguru, our one true god, that I get the parts in and the box built before something bad happens for real

So... the server that died this morning died again, and I don't know why.

I'll investigate, but I'm a little nervous because I don't have an available back-up box in case this continues. Might be time to order parts for another box.
