also ADHD people: tasks must be challenging enough to be engaging, but not so challenging that it triggers frustration intolerance.
... this is literally impedance matching.

Graham Sutherland / Polynomial (gsuberland@chaos.social)'s status on Thursday, 31-Aug-2023 10:28:32 JST Graham Sutherland / Polynomial if you make a game based around building things using a large catalogue of stuff, and you add custom content support for modding, for feck's sake please parallelise the content loader so it can utilise multiple cores and parallel SSD reads.
there's always going to be a group of players that loads up gigabytes and gigabytes of mod content, and you're relegating them to watching the loading screen tick along for 30 minutes while you process thousands of content packs sequentially.

Graham Sutherland / Polynomial (gsuberland@chaos.social)'s status on Tuesday, 01-Aug-2023 20:48:30 JST Graham Sutherland / Polynomial @mntmn doesn't consumer protection law require free return shipping on faulty goods within warranty period? (it does in the UK at least, and I thought that was the case in the EU too)

Graham Sutherland / Polynomial (gsuberland@chaos.social)'s status on Tuesday, 01-Aug-2023 20:48:28 JST Graham Sutherland / Polynomial @mntmn to be clear: the way I'm reading point 5 is that if I purchase an MNT product and it breaks within a year I have to pay shipping to get it fixed... which at the very least seems not very fair, even if I am wrong about free shipping on warranty repairs being a legal requirement in the EU

Graham Sutherland / Polynomial (gsuberland@chaos.social)'s status on Wednesday, 08-Mar-2023 01:11:19 JST Graham Sutherland / Polynomial @rysiek volatile storage does get a bit tricky because large SRAMs are very expensive, whereas DRAMs have higher power consumption and requires a more complex controller for doing refreshes. likely wouldn't be too pricey to make 32GB or 64GB with LPDDR2/3 though.
instantly dropping the data with a button press or tamper alert is super easy in that context though.
