reeeeeelman (realman543@annihilation.social)'s status on Tuesday, 29-Oct-2024 12:49:12 JST reeeeeelman @Lyx @Zergling_man Dead pixel is definitely return territory, unless you got a sweet deal then you might want to buy a used laptop monitor from like EBay or something and replace it (if you can, a lot of them a soldered on).
Also HAVE A LINUX INSTALL DISK ON HAND DINGUS. :coal: -
reeeeeelman (realman543@annihilation.social)'s status on Monday, 28-Oct-2024 06:59:19 JST reeeeeelman @dcc @dj I have some bridges and interfaces starting on boot that I want to remove. But I didn't set them in rc.conf. -
reeeeeelman (realman543@annihilation.social)'s status on Monday, 28-Oct-2024 06:57:01 JST reeeeeelman @dj There's plenty of support, but it's almost entirely for standard configurations. I must have set some stuff in a non-standard way at some point, and finding how to resolve (remove) these configurations is turning out to be quite the pain in the ass.

reeeeeelman (realman543@annihilation.social)'s status on Sunday, 27-Oct-2024 17:07:08 JST reeeeeelman So I was going to work on importing preferences into my program. Instead I spent the entire time adding error management to my program.
I really hope I didn't just waste a day. -

reeeeeelman (realman543@annihilation.social)'s status on Thursday, 24-Oct-2024 14:48:56 JST reeeeeelman @Suiseiseki @PraxisOfEvil Do you know if there's a program that will allow you to receive SMS without a SIM? I've wanted this functionality for years but never found anything. I guessed with the phone companies having a monopoly the answer would be no, but maybe you know more? reeeeeelman (realman543@annihilation.social)'s status on Thursday, 24-Oct-2024 14:13:01 JST reeeeeelman @dcc Same, mostly. I could stand to move almost everything else back to host. But TBH it's a security model I've been using for a long time and it hasn't failed me yet. So I take a "if it ain't broke" stand on the subject. In conversation from annihilation.social permalink -

reeeeeelman (realman543@annihilation.social)'s status on Thursday, 24-Oct-2024 14:09:38 JST reeeeeelman @dcc FreeBSD. Having emulation capability for all my garbage I don't want on my host for OpenBSD would be a dream ngl In conversation from annihilation.social permalink -
reeeeeelman (realman543@annihilation.social)'s status on Thursday, 24-Oct-2024 14:08:16 JST reeeeeelman @dcc Yes. AFAIK it in fact can. I haven't tried it though, so I cannot say with 100% certainty, but that's what I was waiting for too and why I've finally made the move. In conversation from annihilation.social permalink -
reeeeeelman (realman543@annihilation.social)'s status on Thursday, 24-Oct-2024 14:06:18 JST reeeeeelman @dcc I've heard it can but that it's poor. I intend to try it out once I've gotten the major stuff out of the way.

reeeeeelman (realman543@annihilation.social)'s status on Thursday, 24-Oct-2024 14:03:26 JST reeeeeelman @dcc Again I still need to do more deep dives, though I've read the man page for it pretty thoroughly.
It might also be because it's a raw image converted from qemu. Might be a lot of cruft in the block device hanging around. In conversation from annihilation.social permalink -
reeeeeelman (realman543@annihilation.social)'s status on Thursday, 24-Oct-2024 14:01:57 JST reeeeeelman Bhyve emulation is significantly slower from my tests. Even on shitty hardware and all sorts of poor optimizations qemu still markedly improves emulation speed.
I will need to look into this further. But as it stands it's a pretty big bummer. In conversation from annihilation.social permalink
