getting to the finish line with MNT Reform Motherboard 3.0 (yeah, bumping the major rev). many little changes and cleanups today. for example the 5V supply rail size and capacitance for USB has been greatly increased. there's a new direct power header. there's a dip switch to select which console UART you want on USB-C PD port for debugging (plus System Controller UART). i'll probably add a qwiic (i2c) header for access by the SoC tomorrow.

also there's a ton of unused GPIOs there... any ideas for useful uses for them?

thanks for all the input, after checking all the (pretty complex/big/expensive) options i settled on CY7C65215-32LTXI and a DIP switch to select on of two UARTs that can have the console depending on the chosen CPU module (most use UART 1, but on some like BPi CM4 and 8mplus i had to use UART 2).

also this is the next level of "don't accidentally swap RX/TX!"

is FTDI too evil to put on a MNT Reform motherboard? need a well supported quad (actually just triple) USB UART chip that can handle 1.5mbit on two of the UARTs.

@timonsku so i had a barrel jack, but replaced it with a simple usb-c pd input. now i thought, it would be nice to have debug uarts available on that same port. but then it can't be charged at the same time because it needs >5V to charge. so one would need a usb host with >5V, i.e. a USB-C host with PD source.

@yeswap but does this supply the host with PD or the (other) USB-C device?

sqlite3 expert question: when i copy a sqlite file out of a production web app and run a query, there are some rows there that i don't see when accessing the same file that is concurrently opened by the web app itself. does that make sense? is there additional information in other related files that sqlite can use to say, part of this data is uncommitted, for example? for example, does the WAL contain absolute paths and is used in this case?

@min1123 yes, the uboot console would be available on this usb-c port.

@keko i know almost nothing about LoRa, what are you using it for?
