gkrnours (gkrnours@mastodon.gamedev.place)'s status on Tuesday, 10-Sep-2024 04:50:37 JST gkrnours @mirabilos I do have a couple of ix to rj45 cable at home that would make the "dongle" redondant.
The IBM trackpoint was patent encumbered until recently afaik so good luck finding the component to make an open source keyboard with one.
The battery powering this laptop are cylinder with a diameter of 18mm. It's probably at least 3cm thick with the screen. I would hardly call that thin. -

gkrnours (gkrnours@mastodon.gamedev.place)'s status on Friday, 23-Aug-2024 00:27:46 JST gkrnours @mntmn would a module slot, like framework do, for camera/microphone/both/something else would be doable?
This would let you not just disconnect the camera/mic with a switch but physically remove them or other option like having a better camera with a light ring that doesn't fit in the edge of the screen and carry in a separate pouch -

gkrnours (gkrnours@mastodon.gamedev.place)'s status on Tuesday, 04-Jun-2024 05:42:54 JST gkrnours @holo_memory @mntmn the chapter 7 start by saying all parts except port cover are aluminium but in the following section I count 3 aluminium, 3 PCB and 2 port cover of undefined materials. I guess an early version of the reform used more aluminium. I wonder if the use of PCB material is for heat dissipation reason.
edit: that was the paragraph right after the one where I had stopped reading
edit2: I had missed the section saying ports are made of pcb material... -
gkrnours (gkrnours@mastodon.gamedev.place)'s status on Tuesday, 04-Jun-2024 05:42:51 JST gkrnours @holo_memory @mntmn and I'm done with the handbook. I really like it also contains annotated schematics, even if it's a lot for someone not used to them.

gkrnours (gkrnours@mastodon.gamedev.place)'s status on Thursday, 09-May-2024 21:49:12 JST gkrnours @mntmn hi! I noticed the crowdsupply page say the hyper version of the mnt reform ship end of the month while the standard version ship next month. I remember reading it was the opposite at one point. Is there a chance I get the hyper in june?
Also I was wondering if there are info about using LTE modem along the pocket or if that's a bit early. Like I was worried about crowd supply saying their modules are north america certified, I found the Quectel EM060K-GL but does it fit and have driver? -

gkrnours (gkrnours@mastodon.gamedev.place)'s status on Saturday, 06-Apr-2024 02:55:47 JST gkrnours @mntmn these dip switch are quite confusing. I'm used to both ON and 1 to have similar meaning. Also, the keyboard didn't react to keypresses until I toggled the standalone one. Was that expected, like how the reform laptop ship with disconnected battery or fairphone 3 require to remove the battery to slot in a sim card?
