@aral@nclm@forgejo@Codeberg to be fair we haven't contacted them, but we have the same feeling based on perception only. What happened in our case is that people started requesting Managed Hosting for Gitlab and almost no requests for other git software. Being a small by design team sometimes limits on being proactive on offering other software for the reasons mentioned previously, although this is not to justify the reason of not having those on the list of services.
@nclm@aral just happened to see this. We don't feel comfortable with lots of 'open source washing' that is being done the last years by various companies and the situation with licensing is becoming quite tricky. Maybe we should blog about it and share our frustration. We have also seen many cases of FLOSS projects that have not been friendly towards us when we ask them if they are ok with us providing managed hosting of their software.
@andycarolan@robb indeed some apps and software are not easy to migrate, but we can start from low hanging fruits no? For Slack for example there is #mattermost or #MatrixMessenger .
@libreoffice excited every time we hear about this kind of news. Also, yeah tax funded infrastructure should be spent for free libre open source software.
