Yeah, it sometimes doesn't federate correctly, but then starts to work later on.
I've tried to raise this on the Mastodon github but the examples I gave worked by the time they were responded to.

What does it say?
Works fine!
No?
Indeed! And it means videos need two descriptions: visuals for sight-impaired and audio for hearing-impaired.
Hmm... not sure, but sometimes files don't play properly when post is federated. It may start playing later though, I tried reporting this on Mastodon github and the examples were working by the time people responded to them.
Yup! 👍 Describe the audio for deaf people.
You can upload audio files on Mastodon. The upload works just like attaching images or videos, but you select a sound file instead. You can also attach artwork by clicking Edit and then Choose Image.
There is no time limit on audio, but it has to be within the file size limit on your server (usually 40MB).
Supported formats are MP3, OGG, WAV, FLAC, OPUS (rename it to end in .ogg), AAC, M4A or 3GP.

I have no idea where the numbers come from on search results, sorry!
It's probably best not to pay too much attention to those numbers, it may be they are mistaken.

If you follow or search for a hashtag, it can only show posts that your server has noticed anyway. (If you're interested, there's a complete list of what servers notice here: https://fedi.tips/which-posts-and-accounts-can-i-see-from-my-server/).
In this sense, hashtags are "passive", they are basically filtering what your server can see anyway.
If you want a more active way to see what is going on, try following groups. They actively push all their content to everyone, more info: https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-groups-on-the-fediverse/

Hey there, the fedi.tips link is probably best edited to be https://fedi.tips
There's no longer a basic section as such, but there's an essential tips section at the top of the front page, with complete contents below that.
Pixelfed is an Instagram-style photo network on the Fediverse. You can follow Pixelfed accounts from Mastodon and vice versa.
For example, @Iancylkowski is a Pixelfed account, but you can view and interact with it entirely in Mastodon too.
To create a Pixelfed account, find a server at:
You can use Pixelfed through the web or apps.
The official apps aren't ready yet, but there are good third party ones such as @vernissage for iPhone/iPad and @PixelDroid for Android
I'm not a developer so I can't say, but fedidb is run by @dansup who may be able to help?

That's the idea of Lists, to make themed mini-timelines 👍
I think #JoinIn was originally started by the UK comedian Sarah Millican, because she was concerned by people alone at Christmas when everyone else was partying.
But yeah, it could be for any time of year! It's meant to be a way of helping lonely people make connections.
Yes, you can put their stuff in a List and then set the list to hide its posts from your feed.
More info on using Lists:
Yes! Just upload it using the same attach button you use for pictures or videos.
They can be MP3, OGG, WAV, FLAC, OPUS, AAC, M4A or 3GP files, up to 40 megabytes in size. There is no time limit.
A few apps may not show the audio player though, but it will work on the website and most other apps.
Ahhhhh! Brilliant!
If you're writing on pretty much any social media nowadays, if you write @ and then a word, it will automatically assume it is an account address on that platform.
If an email address is written correctly (without @ at the start), it will not trigger this function.
