matthew - retroedge.tech (matthew@social.retroedge.tech)'s status on Monday, 02-Dec-2024 12:32:45 JST matthew - retroedge.tech I'm putting together a Windows XP retro gaming PC package to offer for sale.
What open source Windows 32bit games should I include pre-installed?
I ask because I am not much of a gamer and also spend most of my time with Linux, so not familiar with Windows XP games.
Was thinking of Battle for Wesnoth, but looks like the available Windows download is 64bit.
The hardware will be a Dell Optiplex 3010 with i5 3rd gen processor, so not period accurate but more than adequate for Windows XP gaming.

I agree.
Have used static site generators, such as Hugo, and mostly been a good experience.
However, the concept of a website being a program instead of just a collection of documents is really interesting and I would like to eventually do more with that.

I fully let them know that there are some Microsoft specific features that LibreOffice doesn't have and that they can always buy Microsoft Office later if they need it.
I have so many frustrations with Microsoft products that I am actively promoting alternatives.

I agree about the tactic of "be the change you want to see". -

Especially with the vendor lock-in practices that companies like #Microsoft have. -

Slightly less "Harris" specific signs, but there's a lot of generic "Vote for Democrats... because they vote for us" type signs. That's a slightly more palatable way of saying "Vote Blue, no matter who".
A whole lot of Trump signs, both in cities and rural areas, paired with signs for Republicans in local races. -

matthew - retroedge.tech (matthew@social.retroedge.tech)'s status on Thursday, 05-Sep-2024 07:50:18 JST matthew - retroedge.tech Let us know if you find a solution. Technically, it must be possible, but may be very manual.
I am also much more interested in programs written in #go now than when we set up our self-hosted #pleroma instance, though the resource usage of Pleroma isn't too bad.In conversation from social.retroedge.tech permalink -

I see the situation with nostr as much more positive and the model and protocol to be quite functional... but I am extremely new to the concept.
The documentation looks good to me and I like what I've seen that has been built on it, so far.
I appreciate your perspective @dcc though, as it may be useful to temper my enthusiasm right now.In conversation from social.retroedge.tech permalink -

Thanks for sharing your experience and perspective.
I am quite excited about checking #nostr out right now. So we'll see if my enthusiasm is curbed or if it grows with time.In conversation from social.retroedge.tech permalink -

matthew - retroedge.tech (matthew@social.retroedge.tech)'s status on Tuesday, 30-Apr-2024 02:36:27 JST matthew - retroedge.tech Cloned a Windows installation from a SATA drive to an nVME SSD. As expected I got an error when booting from the nVME SSD "boot device not accessible".
Here's the solution:
Get to a menu where you can choose to boot the installation in Safe Mode (sometimes repeatedly pressing F8 or just letting the failure message take you to the menu).
Boot to Safe Mode.
Open a command prompt in Administrator Mode
sc.exe config stornvme start= boot
That command loads the nVME driver as default on the installation. Reboot.
All should be well and the Windows installation should now be able to boot normally off the nVME SSD.
