@amerika @PhenomX6 @KikiElara @GLFC @PodunkPotato I think that ideology also plays a role in this. A Muslim councillor kept the grooming gang scandal in the town hushed up to protect Muslims. Even got a woman fired for trying to speak out from the sound of it. This same man now gets to work in the NHS in diversity. His diversity is about Muslims though. To sacrifice girls and teens... for what?
-
@amerika @PhenomX6 @KikiElara @GLFC @PodunkPotato Yeah. Although I don't know why this is necessary for crimes taking place... on saying this, the people in charge can often suppress what is going on to protect their interests.
-
@amerika @PhenomX6 @KikiElara @GLFC @PodunkPotato That's kind of how it is. If there is nothing you can do about it, then it becomes someone else's problem. We have set a system up that encourages this thinking. Especially when we made everything the responsibility of the state.
Yes, I do suspect that the post-war propaganda damaged us further. Since I didn't live through it or the world wars, and I wasn't American for 9/11... it is looking at the recent European conflict in Ukraine that stuns me. The things done for it seem out of proportion to other wars or conflicts. I can believe how the propaganda has damaged us, that there is something terribly wrong about it as leaders attempt to justify their actions and force us to go with it. The way they virtue signal and force it upon us too.
-
@amerika @PhenomX6 @KikiElara @GLFC @PodunkPotato To be fair, I wonder how much the world war addled their brains.
How do you know it isn't the diversity staff? Why would they worry about people that aren't one of them? Not everyone comes from a caring culture either.
-
@PhenomX6 @KikiElara @GLFC @PodunkPotato @amerika Yeah. Stephen King is definitely a quick writer... I don't know how he manages it but it is impressive.
-
@PodunkPotato @PhenomX6 @KikiElara @GLFC @amerika I suspect his prime years are behind him at this point. He doesn't seem to be terribly interested in finishing his series so it will probably be left to a ghost writer. He probably should have done this by now, so that he could at least oversee the final piece and make sure expectations were subverted in a satisfying way and people met the consequences of their actions. On saying this, writing is not an easy thing to sustain. GRRM has always been a slow writer and his series has far too many plots and words for him.

"6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them."
I do find it interesting that upon seeing the evil of man, it speaks of God being repentant and with grief for what he had created. Not sure about the destroying part...

I feel slightly guilty enjoying sushi.

@Leyonhjelm You know, that completely slipped my mind since I don't eat fish anyway.
Then again, I've kind of just failed lent this year. Not in a great place right now for it all.
-
@Leyonhjelm
Normally I'm bad at lent, yeah. Last year wasn't so bad because I decided to give up social media/fedi for most of the week... only let myself be here on the Saturdays. That was a good experience. I've been wanting to do the opposite of denying myself something this Lent, make it something that I have to do like a toil... whether reading scripture or writing my book. Neither has happened so far. Maybe I can get things right after this weekend has passed.
-
@Leyonhjelm I hope that this year works out best for you there. Do keep me posted on your progress... I don't really have anyone to discuss this with. Most people don't seem to be interested in Lent.
-
@hakui @Leyonhjelm Like given up in general when it comes to faith?
-
@hakui @Leyonhjelm Ohh... so more like giving up on life?
-
Don't trust a liberal with power over the decisions of your government.
-
@Moon Do I want to know what Hooters is?
-
@newt @coolboymew I haven't played them either. But I don't think you can get something like Spiderman that wrong. On saying that, the more recent films are bleh. Even though people seem to enjoy them.
Yeah, might be worth looking into more. On saying that, it's not hard to get games right... especially if you focus on the gameplay element and keep the story in line so it makes sense.
-
@newt @coolboymew Yeah, I agree with you there. It's hard to recall a decent game based on those. What about comics? Like the Spiderman or Batman games?
I suppose it doesn't help that a lot of games are made in current times which are political. You have to meet certain quotas.
-
@mimorinka @coolboymew That's true, a lot of them do come across as complete nerds. There are some cute girl nerds too.
-
@mimorinka @coolboymew Haha. I did find it funny that nobody comments on the weird clothing that you keep finding and putting on.
-
@coolboymew Yeah, it is a shame that it has come to this really. This game looks pretty with graphics, sometimes I even think that the atmosphere or a character is on point... but in general, not so much with the writing itself. I also thought that we would be able to start normally and become a first year student... but alas.
