Looking more into Hogwarts Legacy... I don't think it is the experience of Hogwarts that I wanted as a child. It's also generic, I actually can't tell that this is supposed to be set like 100 years before Harry Potter or whatever. It feels too present day. Even had a witch openly talk about having a wife.
Is this really the late 1800's? Do they even talk like it?

@sim
>It's also generic
The AAA problem, no soul, just focus group tested safe shit

@sim @coolboymew
in 1800 , students of Hogwarts often went hunting for dark wizards around because they keep spawning there and students was enjoyed to kill them and picking up their shoes or hats anything they wears and selling it to the local shop to get the money and school council admitted this brutal activities for students
-
@coolboymew Yeah, it is a shame that it has come to this really. This game looks pretty with graphics, sometimes I even think that the atmosphere or a character is on point... but in general, not so much with the writing itself. I also thought that we would be able to start normally and become a first year student... but alas.
-
@mimorinka @coolboymew Haha. I did find it funny that nobody comments on the weird clothing that you keep finding and putting on.
-
@sim @coolboymew of courue they are wizards you know, they are totally nerds and nerds doesn't care about who wears what
-
@mimorinka @coolboymew That's true, a lot of them do come across as complete nerds. There are some cute girl nerds too.

I've played Neverwinter nights with my clan mates, old days.
Shadow of Mordor and this sequal are not that real time strategic game you imagined, you'll be the dead elf warrior(ranger of Gondor) and you can use the skills to make orcs to your minions

@sim @coolboymew i hear, the later spiderman and batman games are quite enjoyable. I haven't played them myself tho.
Although, there are games sort of based on books that are nice, but the books are based on table top games. I'm talking about various D&D RPGs like Icewind Dale. But in this case, the books weren't first to arrive.
Also, some people say LotR-based strategies like Shadow of Mordor are cool. I have no clue.
-
@newt @coolboymew Yeah, I agree with you there. It's hard to recall a decent game based on those. What about comics? Like the Spiderman or Batman games?
I suppose it doesn't help that a lot of games are made in current times which are political. You have to meet certain quotas.
-
@sim @coolboymew this is usually the problem with big book/movie franchises. Tied in games are mostly shit. In fact, I can barely remember a good game based on books or movies.
-
@newt @coolboymew I haven't played them either. But I don't think you can get something like Spiderman that wrong. On saying that, the more recent films are bleh. Even though people seem to enjoy them.
Yeah, might be worth looking into more. On saying that, it's not hard to get games right... especially if you focus on the gameplay element and keep the story in line so it makes sense.

@sim @coolboymew the bestest spider-man on screen is that 90s tv show, where Peter Parker was slowly mutating into a human-spider abomination with 8 limbs and couldn't find the cure on his own.
Also, there is the japanese spider-man where he turns into a giant robot or something.
-
@newt @coolboymew @sim I really enjoyed playing golden eye on N64 mostly for the guns. The sniper rifle was a lot of fun.
-
@newt @sim @coolboymew Golden Eye?
-
@joey @coolboymew @sim dunno, i'm not that old and didn't have that console.
-
@newt @coolboymew @sim I think I didn't see the movie for at least ten years after the playing the game and only because it was on television. The game and movie tell the same story so they got that bit right.
-
@newt @coolboymew @sim yes, if you don't mind mid 90s chunky graphics.
-
@joey @coolboymew @sim sooo.. wouldn’t it still be a fun game even if it had nothing to do with the movie?
