@thatbrickster @Moon @alex @meso They never seem to want to admit when there are problems.
We have a huge problem where teenage girls are groomed and then later raped. Even less will we admit to this happening to teenage boys. Then we wonder why there is so much dysfunction.
We also need to be able to admit that there is domestic abuse/violence in many lesbian relationships, if you can't even admit that there is a problem then it is continued on because it goes unnoticed.
Trans people are also at risk of being groomed and raped, at a time when they are vulnerable because they are isolated from their family or people who could care about them and get them out of red flag relationships with others.
While these things can happen to anyone, it is still good to be able to admit that there is a problem and to support those in need, even to figure out what forms it takes for different groups as that may differ but you won't know until you research into it.

@ooignignoktoo @coolboymew @dave Yeah, we need to let them fail so that better companies and products can replace them on the market. Maybe to create some resilience to things like this happening. Some of these corporations behave like they are too big to fail, and that comes with so much baggage.

@coolboymew @dave Yeah, it was better when they kept out of the politics. Now they get involved with activism, thinking it is their moral duty or something, that they are creating acceptance when they only create division and send us backwards because people end up resenting them and whichever group they are positively discriminating.

@dave It's hilarious how little these people understand their core audience despite having marketing degrees and the like.
It's also funny how it used to be important to make your customer happy, now they try to market and sell on making their customer angry.

@Soy_Magnus @thatguyoverthere It can also be pretty intense to have those discussions a lot. Especially when you end up talking about things that people don't realise is a trauma or insecurity to them. There are no easy answers. Often, these are life struggles and you have to find ways to manage them while reaching your lifestyle aims.

@newt The curse of westernisation. In a few generations, even the native English will be a minority in their own country. I don't know what the solution is to change those numbers, to convince native people to have more children with each other. But I don't think it will be through global corporatism which afflicts both countries.

Question is, how can we admire Japanese culture without turning them into a commodity? Without wanting to turn them into westerners?

I would never move to Japan, I admire them and their culture too much to wish to crowd them out of their country, to take away their people by dating/marrying them or to destroy their culture with my own baggage or culture. I do not want to see happen to them what happened to my country in the UK. Japan deserves a space to be Japanese, not westernising them.
