@sim@dave Corps used to avoid politics and stuff that would harm their image. Now they mostly embrace it and keeps getting stuck into dumb shit
But the biggest of dumbshit is the infinite pursuit of the unicorn audience to the level where they're ready to piss off their original audience. It has created nothing but samey insulting bullshit all around
They were banking on the easy money from the ESG loans but now that the free cash isn't flowing like it used to now they have to rely on customers to make money again and now they're caught in a catch 22 of destroying their image for shady investor bucks or appealing to their customers.
I hope the woke joke pandering companies sink tbh I feel bad for those who lose their jobs but it's not like new retail stores and beer companies can't be created.
@sim@dave You underestimate how much offending the nazi hicks means to them. They hate, hate, hate the America people and losing a few billion is worth it.
“In any bureaucracy, the people devoted to the benefit of the bureaucracy itself always get in control and those dedicated to the goals that the bureaucracy is supposed to accomplish have less and less influence, and sometimes are eliminated entirely.”
Expand that to people’s entire lives. Unless lightening strikes like with Bud Light (and even then the marketer and her direct report are not officially fired), not “offending the nazi hicks” means they lose their jobs, careers, and social circles. Again, they don’t care about the company’s welfare, they care about their own.
Going a bit deeper, they’re stuck in a modern Left, born in the French Revolution, holiness spiral. Even if they aren’t trying to improve their holiness, particularly important if they’re white and even more if white males, just keeping up with the current Party Line requires regular effort and shifting ever more to the Left.
@coolboymew@dave Yeah, it was better when they kept out of the politics. Now they get involved with activism, thinking it is their moral duty or something, that they are creating acceptance when they only create division and send us backwards because people end up resenting them and whichever group they are positively discriminating.
@ooignignoktoo@coolboymew@dave Yeah, we need to let them fail so that better companies and products can replace them on the market. Maybe to create some resilience to things like this happening. Some of these corporations behave like they are too big to fail, and that comes with so much baggage.
