@noyoushutthefuckupdad@anime@galena@Elliptica@coolboymew It also has speculations about the anatomy of monsters and monstersgirls, and their non-human societies at the same depth as the inventions. Also anti-feminist monstergirls and lots of sexo.
@anime@galena@Elliptica@coolboymew@noyoushutthefuckupdad "Creature Girls: A Hands-On Field Journal in Another World" does it very well. Gunpowder, coal, and engines are banned from the start, so all the tech that's invented is wooden mechanical da-Vinci stuff. Also a lot of basic survival bushcraft is shown to the reader. Taishi's character arc of being "incentivized" to share his knowledge to a kingdom by whore maids who hate him, making him run away to return to monkey with his goblin bros, then becoming the demon lord is one of the most fun character arcs I've ever read in manga.
@WashedOutGundamPilot >feds "We made you poor and turned you into a second class citizen so you're supposed to go into the military because it's the only thing we left open to you, why're you just NEETing instead!?!" "REEEEEEEE! Where's our cannon fodder!!"
@Misato To be honest I'm not sure how accurate all of that is, maybe I'm just too anti-social and so written off stuff. I think it's roughly accurate though. You japanese are certainly lucky to live in the last remaining developed traditional country in the world, though that means you are also the final, solitary defenders of a more sane world. I hope you can protect it and we can adopt the creative engine that is doujin culture.
@Misato@toast I would also add that we westerners are totally atomized, so there are almost no informal mid-sized groups or events for artists to hone their skills in. Everything's either online-only (not real freinds), extremely small (A group of friends who already know each other), or extremely formal with top-down control and strict etiquette (school organizations, megacorp sponsored events), or huge and made soulless by mass-appeal (comic-con, LAX)
@Paleloon@WashedOutGundamPilot At this point after reading stuff like this thread for years I feel hopeless. Every time I think I've come up with a plan to make progress with my life I soon find out that the degree/program/cert is actually useless and I can never hope to get hired or payed with it. At this point I'm wondering if I should just give up and force myself to get a bachelor's in cs and do webdev like a fucking silicon valley faggot like how all the technocrats want. Is there ANYTHING I can do that is sure to get me money in life or is it really all just fucking nepotism and luck
